Trying to update from 2010 to 2011, or delete 2010 and fresh install of 2011 the same thing happens.
Installation progress hangs, there is some disk activity but no progress on bar
Using 64 bit vista premium sp2
Any help pls
you cant uninstall PA 2010 either?
Seems like something is wrong with Windows Installer then…
You can use this Windows Installer CleanUp Utility which will help you get rid of the previous version and allow you to install the new 2011 version
Download it here;
Once installed, please run it and find PoweArchiver listed in the list of programs, click Remove.
That will get rid of the previous installation and you’ll be able to install the 2011 version.
I have uninstalled 2010 successfully then tried to instal PA 2011 it still hangs. I tried windows installer clean up but there was no sign of either PA 2010 or 2011.
I have reinstalled PA 2010 and it installed and works OK. But 2011 will still not instal.
now that you have installed PA 2010, what happens when you try to uninstall? Can it uninstall OK?
maybe your downloaded installer is corrupted, did you try downloading it again?
PA 2010 installs and uninstalls ok.
Have tried updating 2010 to 2011 using the update option in 2010, it downloads the file and starts the installation but freezes. I have uninstalled 2010 completely then downloaded 2011 from PA web site and tried to install it but it still freezes. I have tried installing other programmes and they install ok so I dont think its anything to do with the windows installer.
how about an anti - virus program?
Do you have one running at the time of installation?
If so, try completely disabling it during installation to see if it helps.
I have avg 9 internet security. I disabled the resident shield and tried to install PA 2011 but the same thing still happens.
Please try killing the AVG completely as even though you disable the shield within the program, it may still be operating. This has happened in the past with some users as well.
Try killing the EXE in Task Manager and lets see if that helps.
also, if you can take a screenshot of when it actually hangs and send it over;
