It happened to me a few times already: writing a post and in the end being logged out by the system… because for one reason or the other it took too much time. I might have had a telcon in between, I might have been search on Internet.

Sorry to say, but I think this to be quite annoying.
(my workaround is to make a clipboard copy of the text before submitting it, so at least I donot need to retype it… but in the past I know having forgotten to do this it and actually, as a result, I did not send the post)

Suggestion:
increase time before users are being logged out from the forum to let’s say at least an hour, or maybe 2.

That’s strange I have never been logged out of the forum like that, no matter how long it has taken me to post.

Give it a try to write a posting, then half way stop, leave the posting open and then go on doing something else, leave the posting open in the background… do nothing.
Then continue after - say - 15 minutes or longer.

Likely, after a while of inactivity, the forum software may log you out, because, when you wish to send the post, you are required to log-in again. By then however, the text has gone and you have to start all over again.

Some other forums have the same thing (it is security, they say, but you are not being warned that you have to do something within a minute or so, because you are at the point of being logged out).
That’s why, in case of a longer text, I usually make a clipboard copy, before clicking on ‘Submit’.
But if I forgot and then am logged out… arghhhh…

I have just done that to reply to your post.
Typed a bit and left it for 30 minutes. Came back to finish it off to see the result and I was still logged in.

I know it happens on many forums though and I use a javascript that remembers what I have typed just in case it ever happens to me. And with my slowness at typing that could happen any time. :)

I wonder if it’s a browser specific problem.

is it a cookie issue perhaps ?…I’m only speculating here.
don’t recall ever having this issue either and I’m always disappearing from keyboard…:)

Could be Moles. I can’t remember but is there a remember me option when you log in?

I logged in way back in 2001 and haven’t logged out since so I can’t remember. :D

There’s something to try next time you log in wulffra. Tick the remember me option and that will hopefully put an end to the problem for you.

Of course if you do that already, then it must be something else.

I’ll try that one out. Indeed, by default, I leave it untagged, having Roboform to do the autofill and login thing.
They say it is better to leave that blanc.

i had that happen with another forum for me, but not ours… maybe your ip changed in between or something, or cookie got deleted, i am not sure.
