For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
How to mount an ISO file (Sorry for asking!)
-
Up front: Apologies for asking this question - I rarely use this feature. This is why I have forgotten how I should mount an ISO file.
Now: I have “Mount as Virtual Drive” in my context menu. Selecting an .ISO file and mounting this as a Virtual Drive, nothing happens.
I vaguely remember there is something with PA, taskbar, whatever, but frankly speaking, I don’t know. PA is not in my taskbar (there are alread some 14 items there, so I want to keep the number minimized.
Tried to find the solution here, likely overlooking it, but after a while of searching, I gave up. The menu item Mount as Virtual Drive should work at any time I guess, without having to search for solutions.
(Sorry for my ‘complaints’, apart from this Virtual Drive thing, PA is a wonderful product!)Anyway: How to mount an ISO as Virtual Drive?
Is there a way to have the context menu work straightaway, at all times ?TIA

That is the way to mount as virtual drive, so you are doing that right.

There is an option in PA Starter to mount as a virtual drive, but that shouldn’t make any difference to your first way of doing it.
It might be worthwhile enabling PA starter just to test if that works for you. If that doesn’t work then there is a problem somewhere.
What if you mount a virtual drive from within PA burner, does that work?
-
Mount is Virtual Drive: nothing is shown in my Folder Tree list - assume PA wud take any free driveletter and then show the title of the ISO.
I started pastarter.exe. RM-click on the taskbar button show greyed out: "Create New Virtual DVD Device and greyed out “Unmount/remove Device” (of course)
When RM-Click on the taskbar button, selecting Powerarchiver Burner, selecting the ISO it only shows the DVD-Writer.
Check for update, there is none (using 12.00.51)Thanks

What happens if you run Virtual drive from within PA’s main interface?
-
Where to find it? Under Tools ? Nothing there…, mean no Virtual Drive or something… Sorry, this really sounds a bit silly, I know.

Doesn’t sound silly at all. Silly would be not asking.
It depends on whether you are using the classic or modern interface.See the examples I’ve posted. 1.Classic 2.Modern

I have the classic version. Clicked on Burner and noticed Virtual Drive. I clicked on that one, it said it did not have the drivers installed. Do you want to download and install them? “Yes” of course. It downloaded the driver (why is not together with PowerArchiver in the 1st place??) and found that now the context menu “Mount Virtual Drive” has gone.
I clicked on burner/Virtual Drive and again it said they are not installed. Again download/install.
Still nothing.
Cud it be blocked by Kaspersky ? (because of a driver). Cud Powerarc.exe to trusted application.Problems… problems…

Anyone else using Kaspersky here that has the same problem?
Did you try a computer restart?
Think we best wait for one of the PA team to pop in to see what they can come up with for this one.
-
I’d definitely disable my anti-virus briefly whilst I checked to see if it was causing the issue.
-
Have downloaded Powerarchiver 2012RC4 and installed that. Went to burner and installed Virtual Drive. After that, like all previous attempts… there was a popup saying Patchbeam.com Update Service
PwerArchiver Virtual Drive has been installed.
bla bla for latst changes. There is no context menu item. It has gone.
Strange…
-
you mean the ‘mount’ option has gone from the context menu ?
if so please check the configuration again and make sure it is still in the ‘shell’ options. -
Below is selfexplanatory.
Oh, I rebooted as well…
KIS was temporary shut down to install the VD-driver.
Powerarc.exe and PAVD.exe are in the list of trusted applications.Beats me …

so when you click on same Virtual Drive in the menu again, what does happen now? all works fine?
It should be in Extraction part of the shell extensions btw.
-
Then PA will ask me to download and install again (did this half a dozen of times already)
You mean Virtual Drive should be under ‘Extract’ ?
have no idea what ‘test’ is btw.
but I am afraid it is missing.

ok, so go to C:\program files\PowerArchiver and copy those files there (PAVD installation) to your actual PA installation location.
It will then work properly.
thanks!
-
Thanks a lot! That did it.
There was a PAVD2010.exe (14-03-2010) in my F:\Powerarchiver-folder, renamed that one and copied the PAVD2010.exe (02-03-2011) from C:\Program Files (x86)\PowerArchiver to where Powerarchiver is installed (F-drive)
It works now. :)
Again many thanks!

cool, :-)

It works now. :)
Great stuff. I knew it would get solved eventually.
Now I only have to try and work out how spwolf figured it out. :D
