    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:

    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

I have been able to run PBS files without a hitch.

Until this evening. Now none of them will work.

      I tried rebooting. No help.

Then I realized, I had a “Critical Update” this morning from Windows (I use Win7).

Any chance that was the problem?

I will email the log file to support.

THIS MAY BE A FALSE ALARM. OR EVEN SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS. I CANNOT GET PA TO WORK.

AT THE MOMENT, I CANNOT REMEMBER IF I USED PA TODAY.

I WILL KEEP TINKERING WITH THIS.

The culprit is the “USE FIPS mode” setting."

Once I unchecked it, everything is fine.

I spent two hours checking other programs and settings on my computer.

Then, when checking one thing in my PBS, remembered I had checked the FIPS mode setting mid-morning.

          Sorry once again.

I see that I have to change system settings to use FIPS.

Give that, you might want to put an asterisk and give an explanation by this option in the configuration settings.

how do you mean change system settings exactly?

(i was not aware that there was some setting to disable fips modules completely)

I was told that, by default FIPS is turned off. If it is turned on, it can interfere with browsing some https web sites.

To turn it on, go to Control Panel / Local Security Policy / Local Policies / Security Options, Choose "System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms . . . "

Right click, and select properties, then “Enable.”

and if you enable that, it works?

I was not aware that that GPO setting would actually disable the module, i thought it for windows own purposes (to enable fips in windows apps or not).

Things worked fine for most of a day. Then I could NOT move a file into an archive. Until I turned the above described setting (and the corresponding setting in PA) off.

So it may even be that there was something about some archives (certain format? created before a certain time? created in a certain way?) that doesn’t like FIPS mode.

Or perhaps there is something else on my computer that doesn’t play well with this aspect of PA.

Sorry I don’t have time for any further exploration of this.
