Not able to extract to network shares using UNC pathes
-
If I try to extract a zip file with PowerArchiver 11.64.01 using the the context menu option “Extract here” in a window, that points via UNC syntax, like
\Servername\ShareName\Path
directly to a network share
I get the following error message:
–-------------------------
PowerArchiverError creating destination file “\Servername\ShareName\Path\ExampleFile.doc”
Possible reasons: File in use, disk full or no write permissions.
Please check if you have permissions to write to this folder.
Vista users: In Microsoft Vista, writing to certain folders is not allowed
(i.e. C:\Program Files).
You will need to start PowerArchiver as Administrator.
If you are extracting files you can use drag and drop from PowerArchiver
main interface to extract files to that folder.OK
This is not a permission or ACL issue, because other Zip apps like 7-Zip have no problems doing the same.
Besides I can create folders and files on this network ressource manually withou any problem. -
Can’t check this myself as I don’t have a network.
So could you clarify a few things, please? Is this from a Windows Explorer window or from within PowerArchiver GUI?
Is it only the “extract here” that fails or do the other extract options also fail (to the same or sub-folder)?
Does the Zip contain multiple files/folders or just the single doc file? How big is Zip file?
If you use PA to try to extract to local folder, does it work?
Does your local drive have enough free space (as working temp directory)?
What version of Windows do you have?
-
can you let us know exactly what that full path is there?

1. It is from a Windows Explorer Window as well as from Power Archiver GUI, if I try to extract to teh same Network share using UNC path
2. All extract options are failing
3. The Zip file is smal l(a few hundred KB) and contains only 4 files but it happens with all zip files and it works with 7-Zip
4. Local folder or extracting to network shares, which were mapped before works (so the issue are UNC pathes)
5. Yes
6. Windows 7 Enterprise 32Bit English -

It doesn’t matter - each UNC path failes regardless of the server or subdirectory
