    MSI release?
    J

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?

    Thanks.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

I have a set of 1-25 RAR files and if I start to unzip them and the “Confirm File Overwrite” window popups and I click “No To All” then hit cancel PowerArchiver 2010 freezes and then crashes.

      I am running Windows 7 64 Bit and PowerArchiver 2010 Build 11.62.04.

Is this a known bug and will it or can it be fixed?

I tested the same rar files with WinRaR and no freezing or crashing with WinRAR.

        Update!!

I do not even need to click cancel.

As soon as I click “No To All” PowerArchiver 2010 crashes and says Not Responding!

          Another update!

It does not freeze and crash on small Archives only on big Archivers. How big? I don’t know but the current Archive size that is crashing is 4.40GB 25 part rar files.

          Hope this info helps.

This was not an known issue.

Does it happen with different set of rar archives as well? To make sure it is not due to one of the filenames.

            thank you!

i am thinking it might not be crashing… just has no progress to report possibly and then that looks like it is stuck.

It might be actually extracting all the files, and not just using file name to decide if not to overwrite it. I will check with devs and let you know.

              thanks,

Ok I just downloaded a different set of Rar files with 23 parts 6.49GB total and once again when I clicked “No To All” PowerArchiver crashed!

Its seem PowerArchiver has an issue when there are lots of rar files.

I will upload a video to show you what is happening.

This has got to be a bug.

just try it again and dont touch it for few minutes… see if it goes away gracefully.

Ok I did what you said and it went away on its own after almost 5 Minutes! :(

Doing the samething with WinRar takes like 2 seconds!

Is this something that can or will be fixed?

it extracts the files, hence taking it long… I will see with devs if there is an reason for that.
