    MSI release?
    J

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?

    Thanks.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

You may want to break these into components. But I will leave that to you.

      (1) Fix the date problems with 7zip that others reported about a month. I have not yet had the time to recreate the problem I had . . . although the response of one other blogger suggests that I am not alone.

      (2) If I create a backup file with relative folders (to transfer files from one computer to another). When I later open the archive, it opens in C:. I have to go 3-4 folders deep to reach to the folder with the backed-up files. I would like PA to open in the first folder with files. It would be nice to save multiple steps. It also makes it easier to extract the files to the appropriate folders on another computer, especially since the D&S\username differs.

      (3) When I open an archive. I would like to be able to open multiples files at the same time. Now I must open one file at a time (unless there is some trick I am missing).

I’ll let spwolf decide that :D

This was a fault report, no need for a wish to fix faults!

P.S. Please check your thread as no-one has confirmed how to reproduce the problem.

Again, this doesn’t happen for me. I have the archive filename as first entry in explorer pane and then the folders below that.

What do you mean by “open” - are you using an editor or just a viewer? I imagine allowing multiple file which could be edited would not be possible but view only could be useful.

I can only report that archives opened in PA, open at C:, even if there is no file 3-5 folders deep. Perhaps there is some setting in PA that causes this. I cannot find it.

In WZ the archive opens in the top folder with files.

Sorry I was unclear. I mean “open” as if fully open (in the associated program). I know this can be done; it is default in WZ. I thought it would be nice in PA as well.

you have to properly separate wishes into separate threads… we can not track them otherwise.

            thank you!

Well, it doesn’t do this for me, so it sound like a fault or configuration problem - could be in archive or in PA.

Again, tried this with a zipx archive and was able to open both a text file and a pdf file in associated programs at the same time
Could it depend on the archive format or the filetype/associated program?

Note: Beginning to look like these are all faults or configuration problems - not wishes.

So I propose to move the thread into “Tech Support” (at least for now).
