I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
7-zip date of extracted files
-
Using latest PowerArchiver 11.62.03 to extract 7z archives all files have the time as extraction as last modified time.
I don’t have this issue with zip and rar files. I’m using Windows XP SP3. -
Hi!
I’m using PowerArchiver 11.62.04 in Windows XP SP3 and I almost got the same result as you do.Extraction of 7z archives
Created and Modified date is set as the date and time of extraction
Extraction of zip archives
Created date is set as the same date as Modified date when the file is extracted. When I compare it with the original file, the created date is changed and set as the same date as modified date.
Kind Regards

The only thing I get is that the date created is the date when extracted. Date modified stays ok.
anyone else?
-
Using PA to create 7z and then extract I do get the dates changed. After extracting both modified and created are set to today.

I recently noticed the same behavior. However, unless I am mistaken, this is of fairly recent vintage (I an currently running the latest posted version).
I do not believe that this was PA’s behavior late last year – and perhaps even earlier this year. I am confident that I would have noticed it.

Hi!
It looks like me, the thread starter and TBGBe all get the same result when extracting 7z archives. The other common thing is that all 3 of us are running Windows XP with Sp3. It would be interesting to know if someone that’s running Vista or Win7 could reproduce this.Kind Regards

happens on W7 too. so it’s not related to OS

Even with zipx archives, the CREATION date reflects when the file was extracted, although the MODIFIED date is correct (it is the same date as the file that was added to the archive).
In contrast, with Winzip, both the creation and modifed date remain as they were when the archive was created, although the extracted file does show that the file was ACCESSED when it was extracted.

it might be “recent” only if you were using old version before ;-). We will be checking it out in the future.

I could be mistaken, of course. However, I am reasonably confident that I would have noticed this behavior had PA been doing this for the past year.
So I would have thought that in 11.5 – or even the original 11.6 – that this was not the regular behavior.
I might well have some earlier versions around. If I do, perhaps I will try them and report back.
