For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PA and Kaspersky 2010

Hi,
When Win 7 was in beta as well as Kaspersky anti-virus (KAV), I reported an issue where PA took seconds to close. It turned out to be a reaction between the two programs and the situation improved with a KAV update.
The problem is back with the release of KAV and only affects PA here.
When PA is trying to close, the quick access toolbar is replaced by “zna (not responding)” - screen shot attached.
Is there anything you can do? I’m prepared to leave KAV if you cannot or it is too much trouble.
Cheers

Kaspersky has been notified as other users of the curretn have reported the same issue with Kaspersky.
We’re hoping they’ll take care of it.
-
we are trying to contact them about the issue so they can fix it… apperantly, KAV does not like PA writing the registry, this is what is being slowed down, even if you turn off KAV (but leave it installed) or whitelist PA.

That’s what the registry is for, to be written to (amongst other things). I’d be VERY interested in how Kaspersky deals with this…I do not want to deal with a company that cannot fix issues with other software.
Regards
DrT
UPDATE: issue seems to have been fixed with latest hotfix. It’s the ‘b’ in the attached shot…need to reboot to apply it but Kaspersky will not request it.

cool :)

Hey all,
I’m not too sure about this problem really, it would seem my Powerarchiver (im on the latest version) has a problem with closing or shutting itself down.
When extracting via shell or opening the program everything runs fine.
However when I click the “Close” X button instead of closing instantly it hangs for about 20second, going into not responding. I also noticed after clicking close the CPU maxed out at 100%.Any idea what this might be? Im running Windows 7 and latest versions, dont think I had this issue when was running it on XP. Are there any “cleanups” or “unloading” processes that it runs though when its closed that could be showing it down?
Anyways hope you can fix as it is slowing down the process of jumping in and out of multiple zip files.
If you need any more info or if anyone else has found this please say.

No such problem on my Win7 32bit.
You could run Process Monitor to see what is going on.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspxCheers.
-
Also, which anti virus software are you running?
-
also send us your reg key at HKCU\Sotware\PowerArchiver, zipped, to support at conexware . com.
thanks!
-
Im running Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 however the problem still happens when this is closed/exited/completly unloaded from the processes.
As for process monitor this revealed alot more information. I could post the output if requested but it is a bit long. However from the looks of things the it looks like its accessing and changing a lot of registry values.
Mainly the subkeys for Stats, Columns, General, Shellex and Profiles are being accessed/edited . From start to finish the close time on the program is 35 seconds.

You need to update Kaspersky to patch b I believe and then restart your computer. Their patch b fixed this issue with PowerArchiver.
-
Nope, already have that patch installed, its also a note that this issue has been across the last couple of powerarchiver versions and i suppose the last couple of antivirus versions as well, all of which auto update.
I have sent an email to the support inbox (ref 4370 for quickfind) with the reg keys and the process manager log files for powerarchiver processes from when the “Close” button is pressed. Hope they help.

yeah, and Kaspersky fixed that issue last week ;-). Are you sure you restarted your computer after installation? Because Kaspersky update wont be completed until restart is done.
What language version are you using? English?
-
merged with previous kaspersky thread…
-
Yep, restart it daily, it seems like the same issue tho, even from the log files with the registy and kaspersky being turned off, I noticed the zna thing after saw the screenshot too.
Yes Im on the English version 9.0.0.736(a.b) however the only diff I could see would be that I am running Kaspersky “Internet Security” rather than just the antivirus although version numbers are identical
Guess the issue should be re-raised with them then…
-
you can not turn off kaspersky as easily as that - you have to uninstall it for it to not work… So even if you “turn it off”, or whitelist PA, it will cause still the same issue.
We have had users reporting it for Internet Security as well, and they said it has been fixed.
Maybe it got “broken” again? drteeth are you having issue with kaspersky again?
-
i will ask these users that reported it to support as well, to see if Internet Security has been fixed, or maybe that was not fixed originally.
