For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PA 11.60.23 lost all my shell right click
-
Just noticed that all my right click shell options had disappeared. I had to uninstall PA and do a fresh install before I could get them back. Just a heads up in case anyone else has the same problem.
-
Ouch - I’ve lost my PowerArchiver shell extensions as well.
I am sure they were there with PA.11.60.20 and have disappeared with web update to PA.11.60.23.
I have tried toggling the enable shell option; I have modified the options to just use sub-menu but still missing.
Note: I do not know if they were present before I reset to default for the disk error message problem as I hadn’t tried shell after update. I have also rebooted a few times since the update.
I have not reinstalled (yet) in case any further checking is needed - can probably last a day or so without shell (but not longer) :p

Yep tried all that myself, nothing worked.
-
I didnt lose my ext. but they were non-functional after the update. I reinstalled it a second time (download from site) and got the functionality back.
-
Confirm all extensions lost here with release version.
Toggling the enable shell option failed here too.
Uninstall and reinstall fixed it.

check the date on pashell.dll in your PA folder.
We actually were investingating something similar in RC versions, where it seemed as installer was not replacing shell dll if it was in use and it needed restart/reboot.
But when we actually tested against it, it seemed to be replacing dlls without restart, even when they were in use (which should happen with Restart Manager in Vista/Win7 but not in WinXP).
-
all of you restarted your computers after the update, right? Thanks :-)
-
No as never had to in the past; i.e. never (ever <g>) got a message box saying I had to.

I didnt restart. I downloaded and installed on top of the existing and poof! All was well. Win7 Ultimate x86.
-
strange Marc…I tried that but encountered an installation error and it removed the installation files once again leaving me with my existing version.
I had to do a clean installation and all was fine. -

Yes first thing that I did when I noticed it, made no difference though.

Hello!
After I upgraded to v11.60.23(2010 final version) I saw that when I clicked on mouse right click the options(such as “Extract to…” and etc) are disappearing.
why that problem happen and how can I solve it?
Best Regards,
Yonatan -
try restarting your computer and see if that helps - if not, reinstall and it should work fine.
thanks!
-
it would also be very helpful to us if you let us know what is the date of pashell.dll in PA folder, before you do any of the above :-)

thank you :-).

Catching up.
I don’t have pashell.dll (nor is pashlext.dll) in PA folder
Although that explains the problem of no shell, it doesn’t explain why the dll is missing - should I try re-install now or is there more info/checking needed.
-
yeah, repair installation…. XP SP3?
-
Repair installation also needed Win 7 32 bit RC (7100).

Repaired.

Yes, XP SP3 - I would have said if my signature was wrong ;-) -
Repaired.
Shell Menu is back.
Yes, XP SP3 - I would have said if my signature was wrong ;-)we have updated our installer to latest release, it seems as if this caused the issue, but it beats me what the issue actually is… because it works fine on all of computers, no matter what we try to do to cause the issue.
-
Here is regressed installer:
http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/release10/powarc1160final.exeplease someone try it out ASAP so we can roll this out… check if dll works after it and what date is it!
thanks!
-
Downloaded, installed and no problems.
pashlext.dll Date 17/10/2009
-
we have updated the installer on the site, so if anyone has this issue again, just re-download PA.
thanks!
