PowerArchiver problem with large zip file

  • I downloaded Supreme Commander from Direct2Drive in a zip format. The archive was a little over 5GB in size, and after extraction, files were missing. I didn’t pay attention the first time, so I downloaded again, never thinking the problem was PowerArchiver. The second didn’t extract fully either, so I attempted a manual extract on the files that didn’t extract, and ended up with 0Kb files. I then extracted the same archive with 7-zip and had no problems. Does PowerArchiver have a problem with large archives?

    which version of PowerArchiver exactly?

well, PA has supported large archives since ages ago. Now, there is always possibility that D2D uses some server zip tool which doesnt create standard compliant zip files in this case, and PA does not know how to read them. Just let me know what version of PA are you using and point me what file is it on D2D service.

    2010 Professional Version 11.50.61 (07/2009)

And yes, that is the program in question.

that should work fine, problem usually comes from zib libraries that are not doing proper zip standard support, so we have to obtain archive in question and see what did they do wrong so we can work around it.

    Hi,

please check with latest preview version, we got another report with zip that we could download and we added support for it so maybe it is similar to this.

    thanks
