I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
SFTP Working, FTP … Not So Much

PowerArchiver Pro 11.50.61 (Registered, ICIM)
WinXP Pro SP3I have two FTP profiles: One using FTP, the other using SFTP. The target server is the same in each case.
The problem is that while the SFTP profile works, the FTP profile does not. When I try uploading a file using the FTP profile, I get the error shown below. This error occurs immediately, without any delay.
I’m using known-correct values for “Hostname or IP”, “Port”, “Username”, and “Password”. It makes no difference if I try using “Passive mode”, but (being familiar with my FTP server, router, and network configuration) it should work either way. Altering the “Default folder” also makes no difference.
Using the exact same hostname / port / username / password in an FTP client, I can connect just fine.

does ftp client work? (ftp window)
-
I had not even tried that until now. Yes, when I open the FTP window and use the very same FTP profile that gives the aforementioned error, it works fine. It connects and presents a file listing.
However, when I use the SFTP profile in the FTP window, PA freezes, even beyond the 30-second timeout that is configured! (Remember, in the upload dialog, the SFTP profile works!)
To summarize, when trying to upload, the FTP profile gives an immediate error, but the SFTP profile works. When trying to simply connect in the FTP window, the FTP profile works, but the SFTP profile makes PA freeze.

sftp does not work in client… so ftp upload does not work when sending from menu… thanks!

can you also check ftp through backup please?

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by this. :o

talking to myself i guess :).
SFTP does not work in FTP Client Window, just through file menu/shell/backup. Its on the list for one of the future releases.

Doing a backup using the FTP profile works.
When I try the SFTP profile, I see strange behavior. When I select “FTP/SFTP” under “Destination Media”, then click somewhere else in the tree and then click “FTP/SFTP” again, I can see the “SFTP” profile flip back over to the “FTP” profile. I mean this literally–the drop-down list shows the “SFTP” profile at first, but after a split second, it flips to the “FTP” profile on its own.
When I select the SFTP profile and just proceed trying to create/upload the backup (without clicking away and back again as mentioned above), the upload seems to work (the file appears on the FTP server), but PA hangs on showing “Uploading filename.zipx”, and I can’t cancel it.

Then it would be a good idea to remove SFTP from the drop-down list in the FTP window, so people don’t inadvertently make PA freeze.

Yeah, sorry–I don’t normally use PA. I just install it every now and again to see if I want to switch to it…

There is new internal release:
http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/release10/powarc1150.exethat should fix ftp upload issue, please check it out. Not sure if we got them all (sftp is not removed from ftp window yet in this release).

Wow, you guys don’t screw around! Thank you for getting this out, even though it’s not quite right yet.
The FTP issue mentioned in the opening post is fixed. The FTP dialog… The one that appears when the FTP toolbar button is used… Works fine now.
SFTP still shows up in the FTP window, and it still freezes PA, but you already know that. :)
Thank you!

if you redownload PA 2010 from download pages, you will get latest 11.50.66 version which fixes this issue. Thanks!
