I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Outlook Plugin not working with latest beta
-
I can’t get the plugin for Outlook to compress any files in Outlook now, since updating to the latest beta. Anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?
-
you mean with rc1? (.48?)
-
This post is deleted! -
I didn’t realize that was a Release Candidate. Sorry for the mix-up. But the Outlook plugin doesn’t work with the RC.
-
excellent, thank you :)
-
confirmed in vista 32 bit…
the plugin shows in the tools/options of outlook but doesn’t show any options after I add attachments to email. -
I am using XP Pro SP3. Sorry I didn’t state that in my first post.
-
Any word on a fix for this issue? I am hard-pressed in Outlook without it.
-
it will be fixed in RC2, faster than that nope :)
-
hmph, we tested it for RC2 and it works here with .48?
Anything specific about configuration? Did it stop working with .48 while it worked before?
-
The plug-in wrks for me with RC1. I have Outlook 2007 and Windows Vista

No, it never worked with .48 for me.

Ok, we might have a clue here to what is going on. After I installed the Outlook plugin, I installed the Snagit that installs a plugin in Outlook (OfficeAddin.dll). Aand after that I installed Windows Search for Outlook (mssphtb.dll). Does this help at all?

try disabling each one of them and see what happens.
thanks

I got it working again, I uninstalled it an re-installed it and now it is working. Disabling the other plugins didn’t help. I think what happened is one of the registry entries for the plugin either got deleted or messed up. I have been beta testing a registry cleaner and that might have caused the problem. Might be a good idea to adjust the permissions for the registry entries so no cleaner can delete them.

good :-)
-
doesn’t work for us all though…:(
-
did you try reinstall or checking disabled list in Outlook plugin list?
-
Make sure you do an uninstall of the plugin first. I did a re-install over it the first time and it didn’t fixed the problem. It doesn’t seem to repair the registry entries if you install OVER it.
I doubt it’s a plugin causing it as none of mine were the problem. I think the plugin needs to be update.

he might not have the same issue as you…

It doesn’t hurt to try what worked for me exactly as I did it, first, does it?

of course, it was more of an comment about other plugins - as there could be interfeerence and it could be blocked.

Unless they installed a plugin that would interfere AFTER they installed the Outlook plugin, I don’t see how it could be a plugin, is all I’m saying. Especially if it stops working after a PowerArchiver upgrade. Something has to have changed in PowerArachiver for an upgrade to cause that, I would think. But going through the plugins in Outlook one by one to be sure doesn’t hurt, either. At least that should narrow it down some.

well thats assuming if someone knows whats caused it… i doubt they do. People install/uninstall things every day. Most of them dont remember it.
There is no chance of PAOP stopping working after RC1 update itself, since PA doesnt do anything that affects PAOP. If shell extensions work, PAOP should work too. If it works here, it should work there, nothing really complicated.

I thought for sure it was an Outlook plugin problem with another plugin, but it almost had to be something in the registry that got changed when beta testing the registry program. The uninstall and re-install worked for me. Other than that, I am at a loss as to what their problem with it could be. I’ll be curious to see how it plays out.

I had it installed last week and it was showing in the options tabs but wouldn’t give me any options to zip when using attachments…today however I installed vista service pack 2 and it doesn’t even show in the outlook tabs anymore even after a fresh reinstall and reboot.
Just tested it with Rc2 11.50.49 but same result I’m afraid…it still refuses to show in the outlook options tabs so I had to uninstall it.

PA 2010 has nothing to do with Outlook plugin being installed or not.
So installing/reinstalling PA 2010 has not effect on Outlook plugin.
What you need to do is uninstall Outlook plugin (uninstall!) and then install it again. See what happens.
p.s. there are default exclusions that you need to check in PowerArchiver tab in Outlook once PAOP is installed, as not all files will be compressed by default.
-
I’d already tried what you suggested…uninstall and reinstall and even cleared registry entries from the plugin…the tab won’t even show in outlook anymore I’m afraid.
oh by the way…the thread you closed http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3785 still doesn’t work for me in vista with or without service pack 2…the backup window is at maximum width no matter how many times I resize it…just thought I’d report it after guido confirmed it as working for him.

see if it is on list of disabled plugins in Outlook.
Also what Vista - 32bit, 64bit?
as to the preview window, try clearing defaults, old settings are messing it up, once cleared, it worked for me fine.
-
32 bit vista as it says in my signature details…:)
preview window working after resetting to defaults as instructed…thank you.
-
check the disabled list.
-
disabled list is empty in outlook
-
Voodooo :)
