Dropping file onto archive (ZIP)
-
Why should there be a ‘next action’? The way you are writing it is as if you regard it as an inevitable action.
That is why I also said…
Of course, you could say that this overwrite should not occur - when choosing Cancel to update, then just cancel everything.
:D

we did next action on purpose, in case you sometimes want to overwrite instead of update the file.
but i still dont get error message….

That’s strange as the situation is consistent here across 3 PCs. Unless you can suggest a way to diagnose/debug the process, I’ll have to give up on drag and drop. Now where’s that copy of WinZip?

tbge - do you get error as well? (not update/overwrite)
-
Do you mean this one :p

-
yeah, thats supposed to be that way - i get different worded one since for vista we had to use different drag and drop code for it to work (one without can not create but just update notification)….
if you guys want, we could give full d&d options window when you drag and drop here (check with archive open in PA and then drag and drop file for example)? Or just change the wording to mention update only and not can not create?

That would be my preference.
And when choosing No on update, then just quit - as it does if
@spwolf:with archive open in PA and then drag and drop file
To me using Drag&Drop (files/folders) on existing archive to create new archive with same name just “feels” wrong :p

well some people use that…
i think easiest is to give full d&d menu on this one an voila… ok?

and now? :-)

Almost there. Just need to get rid of the ‘already exists’ message.
Of course I know the archive exists…that’s why I want to drop a file on it;);):).
Then the overwrite warning needs to go. Drag and drop is either add or move or cancel. All can be done from the new, first dialogue box. No files will or should be deleted so no extra warnings should be needed IMHO.
Thanks for the work so far…so glad I registered.

i dont get same d&d menu as you so what exactly do you get now?

First I get a big ‘add’ box with many options for adding to an archive, moving to an archive etc.
Then, I get <filename>already exists, update existing file. yes/no buttons. If I click ‘yes’ operation proceeds, if I click ‘no’, get box asking if I want to overwrite existing file…not clicked ‘yes’ on that one. IMHO, none of these are needed as nothing should get deleted…they just add unecessary mouse clicks; agn IMHO.
Can supply screenshots if you like. Just ask.
Cheers

got it

hm, not sure what we can do about it, it shows whenever archive is created with same filename - for instance when you use compress to filename.zip.
i will check with dev team so see if we can detect it differently through shell (these are all shell actions).
