Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PABURNER.EXE detected as malware by AVG in b4
-
(NB - Sorry, but I put the name of the file down wrong the the thread heading - that was me not thinking straight!)
After installing 2009 b4 via web update, my copy of AVG Free 8.0 (completely up to date) detected PABURNTOOLS.EXE (and once, PAVD.EXE) as Trojans, namely Win32/NSAnti. I did an online file scan that uses various virus scanners (at http://virusscan.jotti.org/) to check that it wasn’t just my computer reporting this. I’ve attached the results of the online scan.
I figured you should know… - hope you can sort this out soon.

I suggest that you report it to your AV company, these false positives are usually fixed next day…
thanks!

I have reported it and sent the file to AVG, just waiting to hear back now, I’ll post here when I do!

thanks!

Thanks - I don’t need to report it as well then

Same problem for me.
-
was this fixed yet? If not, more people need to report it to AVG…
-
Same warning for PAVD.EXE
-
No, I’ve not had an e-mail back either…
-
more people need to complain - what email address did you use?
-
I submitted it via AVG’s Virus Vault with my personal e-mail address.
I’ll give it another go, with another e-mail address…

we sent them an email as well… hopefully it will be resolved soon. I have to say that I am suprised by the slowness of their reply as these kind of issues are usually solved next day.
thanks for reporting it!

Unfortunately, the current virus database version may detect the mentioned virus on some legitimate applications. We can confirm that it is a false alarm. We would like to inform you that the false positive will be removed in the next Definitions update. Please update your AVG and if a new Definitions update was downloaded, check whether the file is still detected.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Best regards,
should be fixed…

Thanks, I’ve not heard anything from them still, but it doesn’t matter now!
Panic over!
-
Just got the update, PABURNTOOLS is no longer detected as malware.
Thanks!

there was never need to panic :). We never did and never will release version with virus… and these things happen always… I am glad they fixed it, closing the thread.
