Pa2009: Bugs

  • There appear to be quite a few bugs in the local file explorer component (beta2). Here are the few i’ve found.

Running windows server 2008 (basically vista) 32bit.

    • Deleting a folder loses focus of the main window (takes you to another application alltogether). This was on shift-delete.
    • right-click new folder refreshes and collapses all folders, taking you to the desktop display. a folder called “new folder” is created.
    • renaming a folder doesn’t work. Not via click on filename, F2, or right click rename. this is on the tree-view.
    • moving a file via drag/drop also causes PA to lose focus
    • F5 (refresh) with a folder in the tree selected collapses the entire tree.

  • can anyone else confirm these? I’m attempting to use powerarchiver as my new file manager, but these are show stoppers for me.

  • Never needed a compression app on a server. Maybe that’s the reason why so few are interested in your problems. Maybe they should try to reproduce this on a desktop os, in this case maybe Vista.

looking into them… its always harder when there are several issues in same thread…

  • I’m running PA2009 Pro Beta 2 on WinXP SP2.

I do not see the following problems:

    • Deleting a folder loses focus of the main window (takes you to another application alltogether). This was on shift-delete.
    • moving a file via drag/drop also causes PA to lose focus

    I can reproduce the following:

    • right-click new folder refreshes and collapses all folders, taking you to the desktop display. a folder called “new folder” is created.
    • renaming a folder doesn’t work. Not via click on filename, F2, or right click rename. this is on the tree-view.

Sorry about that…just figured since they were all related to the file explorer i’d keep them together. And yes, technically, server 2008 is equivalent to vista sp1. It’s functioning as my desktop (development box), and quite well i might add. 🙂

    Thanks!

  • Tested everything in b3. These are still broken (updated with more detail)

    • Deleting a folder loses focus of the main window (takes you to another application alltogether). This was on shift-delete. shift-delete from the main explorer window.
    • moving a file via drag/drop also causes PA to lose focus. This happens when you move a folder from the main window into a folder in the tree-view.

    Fixed in b3

    • renaming a folder doesn’t work. Not via click on filename, F2, or right click rename. this is on the tree-view.
    • F5 (refresh) with a folder in the tree selected collapses the entire tree.

  • Tested again in b4.

FIXED: Deleting a folder loses focus of the main window (takes you to another application alltogether). This was on shift-delete. shift-delete from the main explorer window.

NOT FIXED: moving a file via drag/drop also causes PA to lose focus. This happens when you move a folder from the main window into a folder in the tree-view.

  • tested in b5

shift-delete of a folder causes PA to lose focus. i thought this was fixed in b4.

moving a folder via drag/drop into a subfolder in the tree view also causes PA to lose focus.
