For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Power Archiver does not automatically import last session
-
For some reason on a multi-session disc, PA erased the last session and only the last recording remained on the disc…
-
we need more information on what exactly you did and how.
It should import last session to the new session - last session is what is read by Windows. So you always have single session that is being read.
-
First, I recorded 700 mb of data to a Sony DVD+RW disc, starting a multisession. Several days later I tried to add 1.4 gb of data to the disc, starting the burner from the tray icon, however I did not see the previously burnt data listed in the window - just the name of the disc (“New”). All attempts to import session manually failed - however “use last session” was ticked as I imagine it should have bee. Refreshing did not help.
I decided to start burning anyway. When the process finished, it turned out that only the newly added data was accessible.
-
only if it is listed there, it will be imported… we will try to reproduce it on our computers, it might be something very specific…
-
And one other thing - while I have your attention. Why is there no option to verify recorded data? This is a standard feature (and a very helpful one) of all burning software products. If you do not include it in the final version of PA, users will have to start some other software verifier (like CDcheck for example), but that means buying another license and simply makes no sense…
-
we will check that out and let you know…
-
OK, it’s been two weeks now, and I have received no reply to my question.
If customers are awarded with silence for investing time into testing for and reporting bugs, they may not deem it viable next time round.
:(

i suggest that you check with beta 3.

it is already added to upcoming beta 4 :)

Thank you for your answer. I did check and here is the result:
1. This time it imports the last session correctly
2. However, I found another bug with multisession:- I recorded several files
- I set a couple of them to be removed and at the same time added another one for recording
- Recording failed before even starting - with an error message
3. Other things I have noticed: When selecting files to burn one has a choice of Add folders… and Add files… buttons. Whatever is selected first the window closes and has to be opened again to make a second selection. Isn’t it better for this window to stay open until it is willfully closed (this is how it is done in Ashanmpoo Burning Studio for example)
4. There is still no way to verify the recording was correct - a function that is present in all onther recording software that I have tried or I own.
-
we will check the issue 2., as to the verify - as I wrote one post above yours, function has been added to future beta 4 :)
-
Here is my feedback:
1. Thank you for including verification! :)
2. Also: Having an option to easily set to erase, then burn then verify with just ticks on a single screen is great! :)
3. However, the program does not show any progress bars for the erasure and verification tasks when they are ticked at the start screen (not the separate erasure screen). :( Users like to see progress displayed while burning/erasing/verifying and all burning software take this into account.
4. When the window is minimized during verification and then reopened before the end of the process, it remains white (blank)
5. There is no need for two separate add buttons - one for folders and one for files. Instead, a double click could open folders (to choose a file for adding from those inside), and a single click could just select the folder for adding.
What if I want to add 8 folders and 10 files? With the present disposition of the buttons, I will have to go back to the start screen 18 times and maybe every time choose a different button to proceed!
6. Burner tray should not open automatically. What if I have changed my mind and want to change the contents right away? Why not open the tray when the burner section is closed or - with a special button?
7. And finally: the problem with the simultaneous adding of new and removal of older files for recording still exists. Please, fix that! :confused:Yours sincerely,
-
4. - thank you.
7. we can not reproduce this, please include more details.5. Thats how it has to work for now, same system is used throughout PA.
6. Thats "requirement: of Windows, otherwise burner will not work properly.3. create wish in wishlist forums please.
It is very hard for us to track issue reports where we have several issues in same thread. Please try to open several threads if issues are not the same.

thanks

Here is the problem in 7 above:
1. I recorded and verified several files filling in a rewritable CD to the brim - in a single session
2. closed the burner tray went back to start screen and
3. removed a recorded file with the remove button
4. added a new file for burning and started the processThe process ended with an error - just like before (prebeta 3)

Please try Beta 5, via web update. Let us know if this issue has been fixed.

I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but this b5 version seems simply unworkable with regard to its burner function. The drag and drop feature is a disaster. I use Servant Salamander v2.5 file manager and I tried to drag and drop files from it for burning by selecting four folders in it and here is what happened:
1. Instead of dropping the four selected folders, it just copied 1 folder and filled it with four copies of the original files.
2. I tried to remove them and add some more files. The program crashed.
3. I started over again. Copied the four folders one at a time. This worked. For some reason though the bar at the bottom of the screen (where empty space is shown) filled up although the files were not big.
4. I removed the files the bar did not clear.
5. I tried to add the files again but the program crashed on me and that was that. -
