Why is 7-Zip backup feature limitred to Pro version ?

As 7-Zip is open-source/free, and you already support 7-Zip for normal archives, why on earth is 7-Zip compression for backup limited to Pro version only ?

it is feature saved for Pro version to make it more attractive. This is why it was not included in previous versions of Backup Lite (hence the name before).
We always planned to have an separate backup utility with one in PowerArchiver being the “Lite” version - but at the end we decided to make one in PowerArchiver powerful enough to be Pro backup utility with basic features (one from Previous versions) in Standard and more Advanced in Pro version.

I could understand if there was extra work involved, or you had to pay for additional components, but this feature requires no real extra work (as the code for performing the backup and the compression code has already been implemented). The Pro version already has many added benefits like CD/DVD burning, Virtual DVD, FTP, scheduling, etc.
I would like to see the 7-Zip Backup feature capability added to the Standard version.

sorry :(.
A lot of extra work went into Standard version, it is not as if only Pro got added to PA 2007. AT least half of our time was spent on Standard for 2009.
For instance, 7zip is currently the best implementation of 7zip on the market, and thats included in Standard. It actually did cost us time and money :).
For us, in backup, it is just an way to differentiate backup features between Std and Pro - more advanced backup, burner and ftp. All the other features will always be in Standard.
Standard version is still the version that we will improve the most when it comes to features, and most of our work for next 6 months is working on standard edition which both costs time and money.

p.s. sorry, i know thats not what you wanted to hear… another reason we did that 80% discount thing.

Lets say that happened. Another user would make a similar request, having the expectation it might also be granted.
I think there needs to be a considerable difference between the two editions. Just my opinion and I mean no offense :)

The upgrade from 2008 std to 2009 pro cost me £5.17 for two licences. Thats paid for about 1 hours work for 1 person. That is very good value in my opinion.
