For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PA2009 B1 & B2: No Shell Extensions
-
I used PA2007 until yesterday. Till that that day I had Shell Extensions for PA. After installing 2009 B1 there were no Shell Extensions. I changed the Shell Extension Options in the PA Config, but still there are no Shell Extensions.
Today I installed PA2009 B2 and still there are no Shell Extensions… After right clicking on a file there are no options to use PA2009. :(
What can I do? Is this a bug? Only my bug?
I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium x64.
-
there are some problems with the 64 bit version of vista, i would recommend you go to 32 bit version of vista if you can.
failing that wait for an update.
microsoft were stupid in the fact that 32 shell extensions are not fully compatible with 64 bit shell extensions thats why at the moment shell extensions does not work well on 64 bit version of vista.
all i can say is thanks for reporting it but it will take time in the mean time hope everything else works ok
-
I have the same problem. I use the shell extensions very often and it would be very uncomfortable, when the final version would not fully support Viste x64.
Perhaps than I have to switch to another program. -
did you guys reboot your computer after installation?
PA 2007 support 64bit shell extension, PA 2009 should be the same, unless some bug sneaked in.

I don’t have problems with other programs. So why I should go back to x86??

But why shell extensions work with PA2007? I used PA2007 untill yesterday and also on x64…

No problem. If I find another bug, I will report too. ;)
did you guys reboot your computer after installation?
Yes, I did. But it didn’t work. Further I cleaned up my registry with TuneUp Utilities after deinstalling PA2009. I also removed all things from PA in my registry manually. Tried to install again and hoped for a change, but no change…
PA 2007 support 64bit shell extension, PA 2009 should be the same, unless some bug sneaked in.
I hope, that you can find this bug. :)

can some other people check if it works for them? We had some x64 alpha testers… thanks
-
Yes, it works for me (on Vista x64 Ultimate)
-
But why it doesn’t work for me? :(
I only removed PA2007 and installed PA2009. What could be the problem?
-
I have also the problem with PA2009 Beta 2 an Vista Ultimate 64-Bit!
No Shell Extensions!!
-
we will figure it out and let you know.

I am also running am running Beta 2 of 2009 Pro on Vista x64 Home Premium. Good news, I have shell extensions. The bad news is they just don’t work. If I have file on the desktop and use ‘Extract Here’ a PA window will appear quickly but not do anything and disappear. If I extract to the folder as the same name of the archive, it does the same thing, but creates a folder which is empty. Everything was working fine in 2007.
Ok, I just discovered something. If I right click it in place with no drag. It works fine. If I drag it a little, it does the stuff I described above. I even tried moving the file off the desktop and no luck.

so it doesnt work with drag and dropping the archive and using right click? But it works if you just right click?

That’s correct!

But you have the shell extensions and it works for you, if you just rightclick the archive. I don’t have the shell extensions… :(

I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium x64.
just to confirm - are you using english or german?
-
German PA2009 on German Vista x64
-
so to clarify - it doesnt work in german PA, works in English (with some issues)…. quick fix is to uninstall german and install english.
Both issues will be fixed in Beta 3 (english and german).
thanks

I have a similar problem with PA2009 B1 or B2:
when i drag an archive to another folder by using the right mouse button, both options “extract here” and “extract to subfolder” just create an empty folder without any files inside.
I’m using “german vista x64 sp1” with latest “english PA2009”. -
^^That’s the same problem Cipher has posted already some answers ago… ;)
@spwolf
I’ll wait for the Beta 3. :) -

i know, thats exactly what i mean.
i just wanted to give spywolf my details, because i thought it would be a german vista x64 problem. -
Hello,
I’m having same problem too. Though “Shell extensions” are enabled on PA 2008 B2, they don’t show.
I am using:
Vista Ultimate 64Bit (German)
PA 2009 B2 (German)I will quickly remove the german version and install the english version and see if it works.
-
Hello again,
it seems indeed to be a bug in the german version of PA 2009 B2.
I just installed the english version over the german one and shell extensions are there and everything works fine.
Then I reinstalled the german version over the english one, and amasing, shell extensions still there but in english, though the program is now in german :-) -
Thank you for testing! Are there any umlauts or special chars in the German version of the shell extension menu?

Not that I noticed; the shell extensions are completely in english, but if you reinstall the german version over the english version, you get the german interface of the program with english shell extensions.
As spwolf wrote, a “work around” if you can’t wait for B3 :-)
-
please try with beta 3 and let us know.
thanks…

It seems to be working correctly now.

Yes! It works for me fine now!
German PA2009 on German Vista x64 and German Shell Extensions
