.doc files get zipped when attached to e-mails
-
I have had a problem lately when I attach .doc (MS Word) files to an Outlook e-mail body, they get zipped when I click “send”. When I go through my sent items I see “filename.doc.zip” instead of “filename.doc”. When I open up the zip file the doc is in there and it works fine but this is bizarre behavior and doesn’t happen to any other files that I know of.
This only happens when I click and drag the doc file into the e-mail body, if I use the paperclip button shortcut in the e-mail and use the selection screen to select my attachments the file stays as a .doc.
Is there a setting in PA somewhere that I need to change?
I’m using PA 9.02.01 and Outlook XP.
Thanks in advance,

this feature is not yet in pa but is in winzip.
Have you tried any other archive program?
Is there any sother software on your system that uses zip files that might be yo9ur problem. As i stated pa does not have intergrated outlook support at the moment, so i don’t tyhink this can be a pa problem.

I do not have WinZIP installed. I have WinRAR installed though, does it have that “feature”? I say “feature” because it’s a PITA. :p

not to sure but try uninstalling winrar and then try to do the same thing.

You have some Outlook plugin that is doing this - you should check your outlook plugins and your installed programs to see what could it be.
thanks,

Ahh, apparently QuickView (which is part of our image here) does it. For anyone looking for the Add-In manager it’s located in:
Tools -> Options
“Other” tab
“Advanced Options”
“Add-In Manager”

I am glad you figured it out, once in a while, finger gets pointed at us for compression Outlook plugins while we have none. I wonder what will happen when we actually release ours :-).
thank you and closing this thread.
