    MSI release?
    J

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?

    Thanks.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

I posted a bug about this earlier with a screenshot but that thread’s gone walkabout. As I’m too laz…ahem…busy, you’ll have to read this and use your imagination: “Show tips at startup if not opening an archi”

If you mean Tip Of the Day “dialogue” - it works for me … Both under Help and at Startup (with no archive).
        Screen 1400x1050 :p

I’m using the latest Beta and browsed all the tips to see if any of them overlaped the message screen as well as to see if the text was to small/big etc…

          I couldnt find anything.

Sorry, maybe I wasn’t clear - it’s not the tips themselves that get cut off, it’s the text in the drop-down combo box:

“Show tips at startup if not opening an archi”

It’s supposed to be the word “archive” at the end there.

TBGBe, you’re running at a different resolution and may not be able to duplicate. Sir Richard, please try toggling the combo box to the longer of the 3 options and see if it does it for you as well. Thanks guys!

Agreed, that’s why I gave it - I was hoping you would say what resolution you are running to get the problem?
              ;)

It’s showing for me at 1280 x 1024, same resolution as Sir Richard is running. I just didn’t think you’d want to bother changing your resolution, takes like 10 clicks to get to that screen in Vista. :o

Not so difficult on XP :p
                  Tried
                  1280 by 1024
                  1280 by 768
                  Even 800 by 600

                  No problems.

Dam! I tried to replicate that in XP Pro, Home using all sorts of resolutions and it didnt show like that! maybe it is something to do with the way Vista Displays things???

“Im still waiting on my new Workstation to be built as the last one Blew up!” Using Dell Laptop at home, and HP Workstation at work with dual screen and XP Pro 64Bit.

So I’m unable to test in Vista :(

Drop&down has been expanded little bit more for Beta 3. Hopefully it will be OK.

and let us know if it works properly now.

                            thanks!
