WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly. -
When adding to a file archive, and selecting for example PA format, strong optimization method, extreme compression. In the Advanced Options section you change to Automatic, EXE Filter and PDF filter . You return to the main section and save the Profile. When you then reload the profile you do not have the Automatic options of EXE Filter and PDF saved there.
I noticed that instead if you change other options they are saved correctly (except for the Filter box values). Also among the various changes to the advanced options you click the “Calculate RAM usage” button the value seems to be added to the previous one. You can see it for example just by clicking the button twice in a row, the value changes. Edit: actually after many attempts now it seems to write a stable value (it does not change with each click). Maybe a synchronization problem in the calculation?
Used PowerArchivier 2023 but there is the same behavior with the 2022
Wheel scrolling backwards?
-
I’ve noticed that when I view the contents of an archive, the mouse wheel scrolling is backwards… I move the wheel down, PowerArchiver scrolls upward. I move the wheel up, and PowerArchiver scrolls downward. Is this normal?
I’m using a Microsoft Whele Mouse Optical, with the stock drivers in Vista.
-
Just talking to myself here I guess, but I also notice that PowerArchiver is scrolling one line at a time, not one page at a time as I have set.

I was expexcting you to come back saying it was “fixed” after you rebooted.
I cannot reproduce the problem so osme more details may be needed.
What version of PA - current is 10.01.03 ?
Clean install or upgrade from PA 9.x / 10.x?
What view style (although I tried both Classic and Modern) ?
I assume you are dispaying details (not list)?
Are you using a skin (I only tried with defaults)?
What archive format (I tried both ZIP and CAB)? -

Yeah, I always wait until several uses before reporting a porblem such as this, to make sure it really is a problem with the program, not just a one-time oddity.

What archive format (I tried both ZIP and CAB)?The version I’m using is 10.00.42, it was a clean install – this is the first I’ve tried PA. I’m using the classic view, display is set to details, the skin is “Default Classic” and the archive format doesn’t matter. The same thing happens when I’m not even viewing an archive – the explorer-like display you get when you just run the program without opening an archive does the same thing. The Open dialog, which I assume is a standard Windows dialog, does not show this problem.

OK.
As I said I can’t reproduce the problem - I don’t remember anything like this with earlier versions either (and I have used them all :-)You could try updating to the current version (10.01.03).
That has improvements specific to Windows Vista - I am still on XP. -

Tried that; it made no difference.
Incidentally, I mentioned before about the Explorer-like window when you open PA. In this, the left panel scrolls correctly, while the right panel exhibits the same backwards, line-at-a-time scrolling as when viewing the contents of an archive.
I like PowerArchiver otherwise, but this is annoying enough to make me look elsewhere. Maybe they’ll fix it, but my evaluation time runs out soon.

…not one page at a time as I have set.
Sorry, I misread that bit.
You are right - if I activate [ Mouse - Wheel - one screen at a time ] in Windows XP I get the same effect.:(Choosing “number of lines” e.g. 20 works correctly.
Could you try that as a workaround?
@JackH:my evaluation time runs out soon.
Apart from a “nag” timer, the functionality is exactly the same (there is nothing disabled on evaluation expiry). Don’t buy the license until it works the way you want.

Could you try that as a workaround? No; I’d rather be annoyed by one program than by all programs!
This is starting to make sense though… I’ll bet the number of lines to scroll is stored as -1 if it’s set to page-at-a-time, and PA (or a programming tool used by it) is interpreting this literally.

Yeah, I’ve been using shareware long enough to learn this the hard way.

we will take a look for one of the future updates… thanks.

Just a friendly reminder about this problem, which is not yet fixed in the 10.1 beta.:)
-
Thanks!
The issue will be finally fixed in Beta 2.
-
Thank you! I shall anxiously await its arrival.:)
-
One Screen at a time fixed - for me - in PA b2 (10.10.09).
-
So, where is it? I just downloaded , and got 10.10.08.

From another thread

Thank you - looks like I need to start reading every thread here!
Scrolling does indeed work corrrectly in v10.10.09.

No, you could have waited for “official release announcment”.
But once you asked… :D
