WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly. -
When adding to a file archive, and selecting for example PA format, strong optimization method, extreme compression. In the Advanced Options section you change to Automatic, EXE Filter and PDF filter . You return to the main section and save the Profile. When you then reload the profile you do not have the Automatic options of EXE Filter and PDF saved there.
I noticed that instead if you change other options they are saved correctly (except for the Filter box values). Also among the various changes to the advanced options you click the “Calculate RAM usage” button the value seems to be added to the previous one. You can see it for example just by clicking the button twice in a row, the value changes. Edit: actually after many attempts now it seems to write a stable value (it does not change with each click). Maybe a synchronization problem in the calculation?
Used PowerArchivier 2023 but there is the same behavior with the 2022
GUI Bugs: in Classic Toolbar mode
-
When selecting either LongHorn or MyPA skin then clicking on Default Classic skin, the PA title bar disappears
Steps:
1. From modern toolbar, Click Options –> Interface --> Classic Toolbar
2. Click Options --> Select Skin --> LongHorn
3. Click Options --> Select Skin --> Default Classic
4. Notice that the title bar is gone.
5. Exit and relaunch PA (or switch to Modern Toolbar)
6. Repeat above for MyPA skinA second issue is that when switching from either Modern blue or Modern silver, the Help button retains the previous color until you mouse-over.

A second issue is that when switching from either Modern blue or Modern silver, the Help button retains the previous color until you mouse-over.
Windows XP SP2Using PA07 RC1 V10, I do not experience the same issue! i did in the Beta’s!
The only one I can confirm is that when selecting from Default Silver or Devault Blue (the new ribbon look) to Default Classic PA Closes its self and doesnt relaunch! the user then has to manualy open PA again to see the changed skin!
-
we will check it out for 10.01, thanks
-
I can confirm this. I choose to go to Default classic, then click on myPA. Looking at the skins menu, it shows both selected/checked. Trying to revert to the default classic by clicking on it causes the title bar to disappear but will show if you exit and reopen the application or change skins again.
-
In addition: after a switch from ribbon to the classic pulldownmenu under win98, PA1000 started up with an ‘External exception C000001D’.
-
I confirm the missing Title Bar problem with Version 10.00.36 on XP SP2.

Download latest version (english only) via website or via web update and see if this issue has been fixed.

Yeah it’s gone now (XP SP2 I forgot to mention that earlier). The force unloading/restarting of the application takes care of it. Problems with the skinning engine?
There is also an issue now (10.00.39) when a modern skin (Default Blue) is selected then choose the smoothlime - it doesn’t skin everything as it should. Even after a restart of the application it is still not skinned properly. The main window remains “default blue” style but the tips window, favorites window, etc gets the “smoothlime” styling.
EDIT: This happens when choosing “smoothvista” too. Also resizing the window creates major flicker. While this isn’t really a huge issue it is distracting. Maybe I never noticed it before, or is it only a recent occurence? I’ll install the older editions and see.
EDIT 2: The flickering is much less noticeable and the main window’s scrollbars aren’t problematic in the older 9.64.03 edition. (the bottom scrollbar is persistent in the newer editions and the vertical scrollbar flickers on/off on resize.) Hopefully the bugs will get worked out soon, until then I’ll regress to 9.64.03 :(

thats how it works, we will update web skins to force you into the classic mode automatically later on this week (hopefully)…
