PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly.
Small problem when extracting some subs
-
I have some subs which can’t be extracted using the right click options. They can be extracted though if I double click on the archive and extract each one manually. I could upload them if it’s neccesary.
-
“subs”
Did you create these yourself or download them?
Which format are they? -
Subs = subtitles
I’ve downloaded them, of course. :o
They are in .idx/.sub format.
-
Ah - ok.
The only subtitles I have seen were compressed with either Zip or RAR.Sorry, but I don’t know or have any files with .idx/.sub formats.
Maybe spywolf does know these.
He can say if a link / upload would help.
PS which version of PA are you using? -
you have to attach one example so we can check it out… thanks
-
I have the latest beta.
There are a lot of subs of this type on the Internet, you’ll only need to look in the right places. :) I have no problems in general with this kind of files, this is a particular situation, I think.
As I’ve said in previous post, I could upload them somewehere, file size is small.

it is because of the name… we will check it out…
thanks!
-
please check with beta 10… thanks
-
I’ve updated to beta 10 but the problem is still there: I can extract now the 2 files from the archive but I’m getting the same error when trying to extract the file particle.rar.
-
Can you upload that file as well?
thanks
-
It’s the same file. :)
The problem appears when trying to extract name.xvid.particle.rar
-
what exactly doesnt work? I can both open in inside of original archive and extract it as well?
-
sorry, got it…
-
Oops, we posted in the same time. :)
-
Thanks!

-
