I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
PA 2007 is deleting startup items from registry
-
I just installed the beta 8 version of PA 2007 and noticed it still deletes (or tries to on my machine) startup items from HKCU/Run in the registry when the installer runs. I have a program that blocks additions or deletions unless I approve them, but it shouldn’t be doing this.
The forum search feature doesn’t work for me, so forgive me if this has already been posted.
-
What exactly it deletes? Beta 8 installer will remove all keys added by Beta 7 due to update issue we had. We fixed it but it will work fine in next update, which is beta 9.
If thats what you meant.
thanks,
-
It tries to delete entries for two utilities that start automatically when Windows comes up, StrokeIt and Getmail.
-
that would be strange - what program are you using for monitoring registry?
thanks,
-
I am using Spybot Search & Destroy’s resident program called Teatimer. The funny thing about this is I just installed the latest beta and it tried deleting the same entries as before, plus this time it tried to delete Teatimer from the startup key as well.
-
It is big conspiracy :-)
-
we will check it out with spybot…
-
Try uninstalling PA and installing it again. See if it happens again.
If it does - let it delete it, and see what happens (does it actually delete it).
thanks,
-
Been there, done that. And yes it does actually delete the entries.
-
did you actually uninstall PowerArchiver completly?
-
Yes. Can you tell me what registry entries I can manually check to clean everything out after I uninstall? I can try one more time and do a clean install to see if the behavior still exists.

I have had the same problem with the startup entry for Superantispyware. As soon as I uninstalled PA2007 I no longer have a problem with SAS entry being deleted or blocked. I reinstalled 9.64 and no more problems.
Hope this helps,
NormandieEdit:
I just tried reinstalling PA2007 and the SAS entry in startup was deleted again.

Issue with dissapearing startup items that show in system tray will be fixed in Beta 11. Please note B11 not B10, as change will only work after first update of fixed version (which is B10).
thanks,
-
please check with RC1… thanks
It will be fixed, as long as you installed B10 as well (or of course, if RC1 is first install)… -
I just installed RC1 and I didn’t see the problem I saw before. Thanks!
