For example:
Download this ZIP file: http://dslstats.me.uk/files/dslstats32W-6.5.zip
Everything in the ZIP file is in a directory “dslstats32W-6.5”.
However when I extract using right click “Extract Here” the name of the directory created is “2W-6.5” !
I am running PA 22.00.09 on Windows 11. I have seen the same happen with some other kinds of archive too.
Hello!
Is there currently no portable version of PA2023 available?
(When) do you plan to release one?
Thanks!
If I compress a folder to a .pa using right click, Compress to folder.pa and use the new Windows 11 menu then the Options, Configuration, Miscellaneous, Use normal relative path setting is always enabled.
But I like this option disabled so I have to use the old style menu in order to get PA to compress a folder in the way I wish.
Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

PA 22.00.09 shows a nag screen, when I try to open some setting windows. I have already PA 2023 Toolbox and PA shows, that it’s licensed in the info dialog.

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?
Thanks.
Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Can't rename files using CAPITAL letters
-
I open PA, then try to rename a file (explorer view, anyway I’m in the rightmost panel, the one listing files), try to write into capital letters, but PA won’t accept them!
It won’t write any upper-case letters!using 9.01.02
-
thanks - we will check it out.
-
thank you!
fiy, it won’t accept capitals in any case, also when you try to paste some, copied from another app (say notepad).
-
Does it work when adding files that are in capital letters.
It is just an idea. :D
-
I’m talking about renaming, mate, not adding…
PA won’t allow you to type in capitals, that’s it.
-
Using Rename via right click context menu.
The only capitals that work are BHJNOPQWXY
All others effect an action or are ignored.eg F opens Favorite Folders.

Hello all,
Here is upcoming 9.02 that shall be posted within next 12 hours.
Download:
http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/release/powarc902.exeIt should fix this issue.
thanks,

It should fix this issue.Unfortunately it did not fully.
If you activate the CAPS LOCK then PA will accept any character.
BUT, if you want to write capital letters via “shift+letter”, PA will just accept the following: BHJNOPQWXY. As for the others, nothing will happen.
:(

How exactly are you renaming these files? Ivan has told me previously that we will need to change our shortcuts (take out shift completly) however when I tested it, it works perfectly fine for renaming files inside archive, no matter what the font is…
So I am not positivly sure if it was “fixed” completly, but it works fine over here.
thanks,

How exactly are you renaming these files?
I told you in my last post…
**Say I have a file named “file.exe”, and I want to rename it to “File.exe” through PA.
Then I click once on it so the name gets modifiable, delete the “f” (or select it), then I do “shift+f” to get the F written, but NO WAY!!
**
As I said, if I activate “caps lock” (the one directly above the “shift” button) and I push “f”, no problems, an “F” is written
(here I’m taking f/F as examples, it’s one of the letters not included in BHJNOPQWXY")The fact is that, as I think everyone else in this world does, I get the caps via “shift+letter”, and PA doesn’t like that…
cheers, hope you can solve it promptly…that’s quite an annoying bug!
-
Do you right click on the name and click on Rename or?
thanks
-
ehr…

I opened a new thread, because the other one on the capital letters has a different subject, I believe…(But if mods like, of course they can merge the threads)
What happens, in the latest version (I can’t say with previous ones, as I never rename files via right click mouse menu), is that when you choose “rename” the files does not get ready to be renamed, nothing really happen.
To catch at once what I’m trying to explain, I made a video about that.
Download it HERE (right click, save with name), then uncompress it.
Thank you!

I believe this has been done on purpose, since we will have to do major reorganization of PowerArchiver shortcuts before we can make this work properly.
So 9.1 it is…. I am going to merge this thread with one…

so, what about capital letters? did I make myself clear enough? :)
you could reproduce it coulndn’t you -
Yes - problem is that I was thinking about renaming files inside of an archive, which is what works. Reason Shift + Letter does not work in Explorer mode, while browsing the hard drive is that with those letters there are Shift shortcuts, so we have to remove those first or figure the way to not activate them when explorer component is renaming things, which I doubt we can do.
So we have to spend a lot of time on it and we have left it for 9.1, when other explorer enhancements are coming as well.
thanks,

9.10.06
now files can be correctly renamed, all capital letters work! good work! :)
