PA 2007 does not reuse extracted files

  • This is probably nothing to be concerned about; nevertheless, I thought I might as well mention it anyways:

When you perform and operation which causes PA to extract file(s) from an archive, PA creates a folder, in your temp directory, containing the file(s), with associated path folders. So far so good.

Now, if you cause the same files to be extracted again, PA creates a new folder, in your temp folder, and proceeds to extract the same files and, where applicable, create the same path folders. If you were to do this 100 times, PA would create 100 duplicates.

Granted, PA does “generally” delete temp files when you close the application - except it leaves behind folders it created for files that had a path!

for various reason, we determined that this is the best solution… There are some possible issues with “reusing” files like that, and time need to check if the files are the same, and if all are there, is in most cases either equal or more than actually extracting files.

So as long as it doesnt leave temps, it is intended to do that! 🙂

    Sounds reasonably. Thanks
