SFX Wizard

SFX Wizard creates “incorrect file size” and “error reading file” error when making and then opening a 7-zip SFX.
Otherwise, I like the changes!:)

b1 or b2? and with every file? It worked for me in b2 I think :-).
thanks,

B2. I tried it with mp3 and jpeg files, all under 5 MB.

Oh, and be sure to type in a caption for the SFX. Maybe that’s triggering the error. Who knows?;)
Should I try a clean install of the program?

Guys,
In case you don’t already do so, when working with beta’s its ofton advised after uninstalling the application via windows you delete relating folders to that program as ofton windows does not do this for you.
C:\Program Files\PowerArchiver
Also run regedit and delete the PowerArchiver Registry Key in the following Directry “PS This isnt all of them but will help”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PowerArchiver
Its best if you download a registry cleaner such as Tune-up 2006 etc.
Whatever application you install and then install it leaves behind registry values and these values can cause problems when upgrading to new software.
I am sure the PA Crew have made sure that when updating to 2007 these issues will have been fixed. However, we are still in beta and are sometime away from the release.

just uninstall and then install again. See if that helps.
thanks,

No, uninstalling and starting over did not work. I even searched for and deleted all registry entries pertaining to PA. Then, I installed b3 the same way with the same results. I get an error with 7 zip SFX every time. I’ve tried different files, different directories, and everything I could think of. I’m puzzled! Oh, well, BH seems to work just fine, but then I can’t use that for an SFX……
-
we will check it a bit more for b4… no worries.
thanks!

Details that might help:
I am running XP Professional SP2. 7-zip SFX works fine if I start it from the toolbar (Make .exe). If I go to the tools menu and try it from the SFX Wizard, then Zip SFX & Cab SFX work properly, but 7-zip SFX creates errors.
I’ve waited several years for PA to get 7-zip SFX, I guess I can wait a little longer……:)

Thanks!
The issue should be fixed in Beta 4.

Works fine in b4. Thanks guys!
