    MSI release?
    J

I’m looking forward to deploying PowerArchiver 2023 to my users. Can you tell us when the MSI will be available for download and distribution?

    Thanks.

    Missing Icons
    LuxorL

Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Security vulnerabilities in 7zip / Update for PowerArchiver and PACL libraries?
    BigMikeB

    Hi there,

there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
    https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/

As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?

    Hi,

From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.

    Thanks

    Better ZPAQ support
    W

I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz

It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.

    Bug with "Encrypt Archive" action
    W

If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)

PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

      Hi

Using 9.01 I have a problem extracting multivolume RAR archives, which are additionally password protected.

When I open the RAR with power archiver, the password-prompt pops up and I enter
the password. (which I know is correct)

Then all the files are displayed in the Power archiver window, so the password is really correct. ;)

However, I cannot unpack any of the files in the RAR, the extraction folder is generated
      but empty all the time.

Drag-n-drop does not work either. I can drag the files, but they still are not extracted.

      Any advice ?

      Greetings

I can’t reproduce it, I tried with two rar pw protected archives, and both times PA could extract everything perfectly!

It might be a problem with that specific archive, huh?

I cannot reproduce this using WinRar 3.30 to create the archive.

I tried with both files and filenames protected.

When I open the RAR with power archiver, the password-prompt pops up and I enter the password.

So the filenames are encrypted as well - otherwise the filenames are displayed without the password. Were the names displayed with a + after them (indicating password)?

However, I cannot unpack any of the files in the RAR, the extraction folder is generated but empty all the time.

Did you get a second password prompt?

Do you know how the archive was created - was the beta Rar 3.40 used?
Are the rar files named part1.rar ; part2.rar
or are they .rar ; .r01 etc?

Yes, the filenames have a “+” behind it.

Yes, I get a second password prompt when I try to drag-n-drop the files out of the
            program-window into another folder.

Same when I use “extract here” from context menu, nothing happens.

The filenames are named “part001.rar” etc and “properties” of the archive shows v2.9

By the way, unencrypted archives work ok. Only encrypted do not.

And its possible to extract the archive with Winrar 3.3, so the files are ok definitely.

its possible to extract the archive with Winrar 3.3

In that case, as neither Manuangi or I can reproduce the problem, it will be difficult for PA Devs to progress without an example archive to examine.
Does it only happen with the one archive or have you encountered it with different ones?
Can you provide the archive(s) or a link?
If not, Could you try 7-Zip utility ( http://www.7-zip.org ) and see if that can extract OK.

Note: I believe PA uses the rar3.3 unrar.dll so should be compatible.

Hmph, my guess would be wrong password. Your filenames show because they have not been encrypted to start with so they would show anyway. It could be possible that your archive has been corrupted as well, which is a bit harder to find out with encrypted archives.

I suggest that you download WinRar and try it… If it works, then it is definetly PA problem but I have tested similar file myself and it does work fine here.

                  thanks,

does it only happen with this rar file or is it any created with winrar3.3

what is your file name and password. Can you post the archive and password to the forum so we can test it and see what needs doing. I know for a fact that there are limits to the unrar.dll supplied by winrar, and that could be the problem.

                      1. The password was correct and still is…. ;) I would not post otherwise.

                      2. I uploaded a 3 part archive here:

                      http://fukbiaeae.snowkite.net/

                      The password is: test

I can decompress using WinRar 3.3, I cannot using PA .
Neither with D´n´D, nor via context menu.

                      Bt.w.: I am using WinXP with SP2

It quite possibily could be an problem with filenames inside of archive and nothing related to password.

                        We will check it out.

                        thanks,

You can Test new per-release here:
                              http://www.powerarchiver.com/test/release/powarc901.exe

It should fix the issue with those characters in the archive.

                              thanks,
