PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

Convert archive is incorrect for some WinRAR 5 archives
    W

WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly.

you mean it does not add the file to the converter file list? :-)

Yes I see that too - plus I get a small window with the text “I/O error 103” (Uses PA skin but has no title - just an OK button).
          However, BH file was created
This was Zip to BH conversion.

Then tried with “Tar.gz” to “Zip”
This gives “I/O error 104” and no Zip file is created.

Note: the error window appears when PA deletes the temp directory.

Yes, Spwolf, that’s exactly what I’m saying. It does not add the file to the list like it did before. And, it’s annoying.

            Hello Terry! It’s been a while…… :D

Yes, I’m seeing the same problem too. Convert from the context menu has “Ok” grayed out. I can convert archives that I open with PA normally, but, I use the context menu quite often. :(

All is still not well with PA v9.6.3.2. When trying to convert an archive I get the following error on the first try:```
Faulting application powerarc.exe, version 9.6.3.2, faulting module powerarc.exe, version 9.6.3.2, fault address 0x00001d62.

On the second try, it is successful.

At which point in the process?
                        Convert from what to what?
Does the original (from) archive open / extract OK with P.A. ?
Enough working disk space (temp directory) ?

Edit: Beaten by Spwolf - must type faster…

Ignore - I misread this bit.

Something must have gone awry with my system when I posted that. Since that time, I’ve been unable to reproduce the error. It may have had something to do with having the U3 version installed previously, but more testing is needed.
