PA 21.00.18 Action / Test behaves oddly for me on .PA files
    Brian GregoryB

PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
    Discovered:
    a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
    b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.

Convert archive is incorrect for some WinRAR 5 archives
    W

WinRAR 5 has a rather useful option in some cases, which is to be able to create an archive by replacing identical files with a reference to the first occurrence (hardlink) within the archive.
In case you choose to convert the file with PowerArchiver to another format, however, the resulting archive does not have all the files. It does not consider those that were present as hardlinks.
If you do a normal extraction of the RAR archive instead, even with PowerArchivier, all the files are extracted correctly.

    Some bugs on Advanced options
    W

When adding to a file archive, and selecting for example PA format, strong optimization method, extreme compression. In the Advanced Options section you change to Automatic, EXE Filter and PDF filter . You return to the main section and save the Profile. When you then reload the profile you do not have the Automatic options of EXE Filter and PDF saved there.
I noticed that instead if you change other options they are saved correctly (except for the Filter box values).

Also among the various changes to the advanced options you click the “Calculate RAM usage” button the value seems to be added to the previous one. You can see it for example just by clicking the button twice in a row, the value changes. Edit: actually after many attempts now it seems to write a stable value (it does not change with each click). Maybe a synchronization problem in the calculation?

Used PowerArchivier 2023 but there is the same behavior with the 2022

      Hello.
I’ve a little unclarity. In Licence, 2.2 it’s stated: “After you have registered, you may personally use the Software on one or more computers, or allow multiple persons to non-simultaneously use the Software on a single computer, but not both.” Does it means I can buy only one licence for both my computers at home? Second usualy uses my wife. And what about my notebook? I’m the only user of it. Thanks.

I don’t work for Conexware but my understanding is that the key wording is “non-simultaneously”.

Only one license is required for all 3 computers - IF you can be sure that only one (PowerArchiver - not one computer) is being used at any time.

So, if your wife never uses PowerArchiver then you only need one license. However if she does use PowerArchiver, you should ensure that you do not use it at the same time.

My guess is that you could not be sure, so you would probably need two licenses - one for you and one for your wife. Then PowerArchiver can be used by either of you whenever needed (e.g. your wife at home while you are out with the laptop).

          TBGBe> So I can forbid using to her… :D

No, seriously. She mostly plays WoW or surf the web so there’s very small probability we run PA both at once. And what if I’m working on notebook and destop simultaneously and accidentaly run PA on both? Is it violation of Licence? Is it crime? :) I must say I’m usualy a bit confused from licence agreements and this one isn’t different.

We give you freedom so you can choose if you want to license per computer/seat or per person.

If you want to license it per computer, then multiple people can use it at the same computer.

If you want to license it per specific individual, then you can use it on multiple computers as long as you are the ONLY person using it.

You can not mix and match different licensing options, you pick one and thats it. None of the licenses are concurrent licenses.

Ah, got it…So when I purchase per user Licence and install it on my wife’s PC but I’ll be only user (e.g. PA will be installed only in my profile) is everything alright?

Hello, I really would like to buy PA, but first I have to clarify my licence problem ;)

                    @ admin

You said that I can choose between a licence per computer/seat or per person. Is this option still up to date? I dont know where to choose this, there is only the possibility to choose between personal and business licence.

Is it allowed to use this personal licence on more than 1 computer non-simultaneously (of course only by myself)?

Yes. Just use it that way, there is nothing to select.

                      thanks

Thats handy to know. I have a couple of colleagues who are waiting for the outlook addin to be updated for outlook 2007 before they buy and they were planning to get 2 licences each (one of their laptop and one for their desktop). They will only have to buy one each if I read that correctly.

yep… as long as they are only ones using it, that is correct…
