Just tried using the Modern (Windows 10) Icon set and seeing a few missing icons in both PowerArchiver Burner and PowerArchiver Encryption screens . They are all there in the Minimalistik icon set and the only difference I can see is the former is blue and the latter grey. In version 22.00.9

Hi there,
there were some security issues fixed in 7zip:
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1165/
https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-23-1164/
As it seems, that PowerArchiver and PACL use the 7zip libraries, could you please update them to the latest version?
Hi,
From where I get PAVD2023.EXE? PowerArchiver 2023 tries to open it.
But it seems, it tries to download PAVD2021.EXE.
Thanks
I noticed that the version of ZPAQ used is older than the latest released 7.15 https://mattmahoney.net/dc/zpaq.html also there seems to be a newer fork that adds several features https://github.com/fcorbelli/zpaqfranz
It would be useful to implement this latest version (it also maintains the same syntax and behavior as the latest official release if used the -715 flag) and add when opening a zpaq file a choice of the version of the files to show (e.g. as dummy folders represented the various versions present). Since any previous changes are stored with this format, it is possible to extract a snapshot of a certain date/version.
If I open a password-protected zipper file (created with WinRAR but I think that’s irrelevant), open it with PowerArchiver and run “Remove Encryption” on the same file, then reopen it and add a password with “Encrypt Archive,” the resulting archive will be protected with the old ZipCrypto algorithm and not AES as indicated.
(this can be verified, for example, by trying to open the archive files with Windows Explorer, which does not support the AES algorithm)
PA 21.00.18 running on Windows 7 64 bit.
I made a big .PA file and thought I’d check it was made correctly with Menu / Actions / Test.
Discovered:
a) PA always issues a UAC prompt to do this!
b) PA always says there are many errors in PA files.
Saving relative path
-
Maybe I’m missing something, but how do I save the relative path when creating an archive?
-
Check option called> Options> Config> Misc> Use normal relative path.
That should make it work you way you want it.
thanks,

Thanks. But I don’t always want to save the relative path, and this requires I go into config to disable/enable the option before archiving.
Why isn’t this an option in the Add to archive dialog, along with “Save full folder info”.
This is the only archiver I used that didn’t have this option available in the Add dialog. -

This is the only archiver I used that didn’t have this option available in the Add dialog. But when you create a new archive or add to an existing archive, there are three “path” radio buttons at the bottom of the Add/Selection window (not the options window) -
- Store relative paths
- Store full paths
- Do not store paths
So you CAN select the one you want each time
The option for “normal relative path” only alters how the relative path name is stored when archiving a single folder. This is a matter of taste and usually doesn’t need changing once you set it the way you prefer.

Sorry, maybe I’m blind, but I don’t see that…… check the attachment.

Hi,
There are two ways to save relative path in PowerArchiver. Default way is that main/root folder path IS NOT stored, but every other path is. This is done to compliment shell extensions - for example, you can use compress to foldername.zip and extract to foldername, and it will work perfectly.
Then you have normal relative path option which is what everyone else uses, and full relative path is shown. This wont work well with shell extensions, since using extract to filename/ would create double folders (folder and then folder inside of it).
Now, if you are saying that you want to use No path option, you are correct, it does not exist in shell extensions, only in main PA. Nobody really requested it until today.

Ah, didn’t realise you were using the Shell Extension (compress with options and/or profiles) - I was referring to the Add window from within main PA application.
Using Shell Extension you only have Full Path option.
- Shell with files (in same folder), either full path or no path.
- Shell with folders (and files), either full path or relative path.
