Setting no remembered / slight delay in startup

  • 2 problems.

When PowerArchiver opens, it shows my directory structure on the left and the files on the right (like Windows Explorer)

I right click and add the attributes option for the files. I then close the program, reopen and the attributes are not shown. I can only show name, size, type, date modified. None of the other options date created, attributes, owner, author are remembered. I had a 2 screenshots showing the problem, but I couls not upload them??

Any solutions? No use having options if they are not remembered by the program.

The latest version also seems to be a bit slower in opening (9.00.35), there is a slight delay.

    Pentium 4 3.4Ghz, 1GB ram, running Windows XP SP2

  • could you list your files that start when windows starts and any files you open before powerarchive is started

  • I don’t believe it has anything to do with programs running when Windows starts or programs run before opening PowerArchiver. I have the same problem on 4 comnputers.

I would like to post a few screen shots to show the problem, but for somne strange reason I cannot.

    Well, I can 😃

Start PA / Explorer view (no archive open).
Add View - Attribs (Add Attrib.png).

    Exit PA (using Toolbar Button).

Start PA / Explorer view (no archive open).
Attrib view is not shown (Add Attrib Restart.png).

    This is in Win2k.

    Hi,

    Settings not saved:
    http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96

All of those will be featured in 9.1 (Sept/Oct).

As to delay in startup, check if you have ctfmon.exe running in memory, and if so - close it and see if that helps. We just fixed this one in 9.00.35, where ctfmon.exe (used for some multilanguage support such as language bar, etc) slowed down PA. It works perfect now in Classical view but there still “might” be small slowdown in Explorer view, we are still testing it. It took us a long time to actually find this one, as the slow down was caused due to the window size saving component and ctfmon.exe, which was quite hard to predict and find out.

    thanks!

Please update to the latest version of PA 2004 9.01.01 at:
    http://www.powerarchiver.com/download/

And everything should be quite fast…

    thanks!

  • No difference with 9.01 installed.

Still a delay when opening and settings not saved.

    No difference with 9.01 installed.

Still a delay when opening and settings not saved.

Old version was on listed still on main download link and new one was working on mirror link - please download again to get 9.01.01 version.

    thanks,

p.s. settings will still not be saved, but delay wont be there - try using Classical view and see if that changes anything? But please make sure you are using 9.01.01
