FYI: Daemon Tools 4.0 and PA

  • In case anyone else runs into this error…

    I recently upgraded to Daemon Tools 4.0 and was getting the following error when I launched PA:

    Error Message title- “Powerarc: POWERARC.EXE - Unable To Locate Component”

    Error Message text- “This application has failed to start because daemon.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

    Error Message button- “OK”

    If I hit the OK button the dialog reappeared 2 more times then PA launched as normal. I’m not sure what, if any, functionality may have been lost when the DLL was not on the path (not able to work with virtual drives?).

    To fix this edit your path to include “C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools” or to the location you installed Daemon Tools 4.0:

    you should probably send an email to their developers, since this seems to be their issue. Definetly did not happen before…

  • this is due to an incompatability with this software. It happens with more software than pa. have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling pa. Also do you have any firewalls and any antivirus software?

  • Hi, just a word to tell you that I’ve been able to repair my installation of PA by removing it, removing Daemon Tools Lite (DTL) and then reinstalling PA but without reinstalling DTL first (reinstalling it only after PA).

    Trying to repair or to reinstall PA while DTL was still installed didn’t make the cut.

    However, I’m wondering if the next time I upgrade PA, I will have to remove DTL again or not.
