PGP Plugin
-
Would you be so kind to tell me where I can download the PGP plugin.
Thanks.

As far as I know there is no PGP plu in for PowerArchiver
Where did you see a reference to this? -
On the following site.
http://www.dvhardware.net/article94.html- Plug-In Support:
You can now download a separate plug-in for PGP support.
The reason why I asked is I rescently downloaded a file with a .rar.pgp extension.
- Plug-In Support:
-
You are right
It is referred to in “Whats New/History” for Version 8.00 [08/06/2002]I’ve never seen one so also wonder where it is.
-
 Somebody please explain this to me…
The current (as of October 24th, 2006) version of the PowerArchiver Help File has this entry under
" PowerArchiver Revision History":Version 8.00 [2002]
Completely new release…* Plug-In Support:
You can now download a separate plug-in for PGP support. Now, unless I’m mistaken, that was FOUR YEARS AGO! Then, fourteen months ago, somebody posts the “Where is the PGP Plugin” mystery about which I am also inquiring.
Furthermore, PA Forum searches for “PGP” yield very, very nasty messages from spwolf in response to completely legitimate requests about this same issue from davidsplash.
Why is spwolf being such a douche* in the exchange I am linking below?
http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5665&postcount=2
davidsplash is totally correct about the “vaporware-ish” plugin, but spwolf is being a total “dique” about it:
IT’S NOT A “WISHLIST ITEM”! IT’S IN THE FREAKING HELP FILE!!! WHERE IS THIS PLUGIN???
By the way, I am a paying PowerArchiver customer, not a freeloading, demo-using complain-troll.
*(WOW! The forumbot doesn’t censor “douche!” That’s awesome! But I’m sure spwolf will edit or censor this, even though he was clearly being unfair to davidsplash.)
-
eh. First of all, David has really bad habit of simply reposting every one of the wishes he has every few months :-).
That sometimes leaves us with 10 new threads, most of which already exist, and it makes our wishlist forums very hard to read.
But enough of that.
Somewhere there, it was explained why our PGP plugin was removed - we completed it just in time when PGP Corporation was sold to another owner. Due to legal uncertainty, we decided not to go with plugin.
I dont remember exact reasons, as it was quite an while ago.
-
p.s.
this is 3rd or 4th time i mention this - there is an wishlist forum, there is an wishlist thread about plugins. Please post there david!!!
this is very, very, nasty? :-).
-
Well, taken purely out of context, that quote seems merely to be sarcastic, bordering on simple meanness. Not “very, very nasty” taken on its own. But in the aggregate, if you look at most of your responses to him, you don’t seem to cut him any slack even when he’s obviously got a valid point.
I understand that he’s annoying, but to slam him about his incorrigible thread-creating habits, even when he’s asking a legitimate question… well, it seems pretty nasty, to me at least. But then again, I’ve never been forced to respond to him nine thousand times…

out of contest maybe, but at that time, I bet there were around 10 different “new” threads on forums :-).
there are simple rules that have to be followed. most other companies dont have public forums or dont activly respond. We try to do so, but that requires a bit of order or it will be simply too much.
Looking over 200 wishlist threads is not an simple task.
btw. David is an nice guy and we love him here!

Well, then we have a “bug” in the Revision History file.
One of the versions after 8.0 (2002) should list the removal of this “feature” :p -

One of the versions after 8.0 (2002) should list the removal of this “feature” :pwe dont usually list removed features, heck, we dont list all features added (it would be too much). At the same time, feature was never added since it was removed from final release, so info should have never been there in the first place.
