Problems with AES Secured Zips
-
Hello,
I need the AES-Encrypting features quite often because of my customers
request this. All of the encrypted ZIPs are done with the Wnzp 9.Sometimes, especially when the unpacked Files are more than about
80-100 megs large, PA stops with an “password incorrect” error. But it already decompressed (and decrypted) around 70…90% of
the archive successfully when the error shows up.I have tried to “simulate” the problem with PA, but it never show up.
Since I don’t have Winzip, I can’t simulate it either.Just try following setup: try to get 100megs of sources, websites or
texts, and then pack them down to ~10megs with encrypting AES 256 bit. Then try to “expand” it back with PA providing the correct password. If someone
can reproduce the error, I would be very happy to know what I can do about it.Currently, I have to manually select parts of the file (about 1/3 of zip) and
extract them 1/3-part by part so the error doesn’t shows up.Annoying…
thx

I tried this using “boost_1_32_0.tar.bz2”, see other thread
http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=738Compressed with WZ9 SR-1 (maximum enhanced deflate) using 256AES.
Extraction with WZ was OK.
Extraction with PowerArchiver 9.20.07 failed at 47% with the password error as mzk reported. -
Also tried PA9.21 (from same thread).
Both extract and test fail - also at 47% -
where can you download PA 9.21?

I see thanks

What exact version of WinZip are you using? (check in About box).
thanks,

For my test above (boost) I used WinZip 9 SR-1 (6224).
Extracting (PA 9.21) fails - always at 47% - both using Explorer Shell and PA Main Program.
{ Always on file “libs/graph/example/components_on_edgelist.expected” if relevant}
