PAK files were never supported - even extracting was never supported. Can you please explain what you were doing in older versions and with which files?

This May Sound Starange But Some People Were Using Zip As Pak Files With Just The Extension Changed To Pak. Sounds Daft But Its True. I Found This Out Over The Internet As I Downloded A Pak Foile Only To Find It Was A Zip File In Discuise

I just tried renaming one ZIP file to PAK and then opening it from main PA interface - it worked fine and I could do anything as with ZIP files. Even creating PAK (as ZIP format) files went fine from main PA interface.
From shell extensions it is not supported because shell-extensions are detecting file format based on its extension - so PAK files are not natually supported because they are not originally ZIP files! You should rename them to ZIP if you want to use them from shell extensions.
This is not a BUG because there are REAL PAK files - this is very old format by NoGate Consulting - and they are not supported, and because of this PA is not displaying “Extract” items in shell-extensions for those files.
It is true that PAK format is very similar to old v0.9 ZIP format - it uses same compression methods as old v0.9 ZIP format, but this format is not used any more and there is no reason for supporting it.

I don’t know what these “bik” files are, but why not do the reverse of what ivan suggested?
Copy/rename the .pak file to .zip
Then (if it really is an old Zip format) you can open it with PA and use Find to extract all the .bik files. -

Although it should be handy to count on that feature in PA 9.x -'cause some games still use it to pack media files even though it’s an old format, you can still use ‘PAKScape’ to Extract & Make “real” .pak files.
Here’s a set of links to download pages: click here
I hope this helps.
