BUG: When using Up/Down cursor keys navigate XPSP2 network install SFX
-
An error message is displayed saying that “PowerArchiver cannot open this filoe. It does not appear to be a valid archive.”, which is odd because the archive is alreaady open.
This problem occurs with the XP SP2 network install SFX file (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe) when using the up/down cursor keys to move up/down the folder tree.
To Reproduce:
- Open WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe in PA 9.01 (This can take a while)
- Expand the i386 folder in the folder tree
- Highlight the drw folder in the folder tree
- Use the cursor keys to move down to the images folder, then up very quickly (ie. before the contents of images is read)
** The error message is displayed
This repeatable and happens every time.

I loaded the XP SP2 network install file into PowerArchiver 9.01 and extracted all the files. There were a couple of problems:
-
The progress window was displayed, but no progress was actually shown even though the files were extracted OK.
-
After all the files had extracted the progress window was not closed and remained open. The “Minimize” and “Tray” buttons worked (although the PA tray icon was completely white instead of the normal PA icon colours) but the “Cancel” button did nothing. I could also use the main PA window (ie. the progress window had given the focus back to the main PA window)

Thanks!
I will look into XP SP2 problems…

I found some errors in our new CAB SFX support engine so I returned old (from 9.00.xx) CAB SFX engine which should work fine with XP SP2. It is little bit slower because it makes CAB archive in $TEMP folder of original CAB SFX file, but seems to work OK with XP SP2.
I also found that strange behaviour of our new CAB SFX engine depends on installed CABINET.DLL in your system, so deipotent can you please send me CABINET.DLL found in your c:\Windows\System32 folder.
It seems that XP SP2 can be extracted (even progress bar is not shown) with some CABINET.DLL and with some now.
