Just wanted to say this is a great release! 7-Zip support was a must and you guys delivered!
Great job!!!
I hope to see more frequent updates but you guys do a great job as it is!

 Thank you!
-
Along with a good job on 2004, the forums also look nice.

I love the new slick icons in PA 2004! Although I find that it takes a little longer to open PA2004 than PA 2003 version 8.8. I’m using a 3GHz CPU with 1GB ram and XP Pro.
-
Yeah PA 2004 is a huge step forward !!
Congratulation

Just curious… I hear people complaining about lack of 7Zip support all the time in certain archivers, and raving about presence of 7Zip support in archivers that have it. But I’ve yet to even come across a 7Zip archive.
So who uses it? Is it just an archive format that people like for their own use? For backups?
-
I use it, for me 7Zip is the inofficial successor of ZIP. it has better compression ratios than RAR and ACE. And the best the 7ZIP format is OpenSource, so every programm can use this routine. Even Linux programs.
-
I read in someone’s post on FileForum that RAR compresses better than 7Zip on text files. I wasn’t sure I believed it at first, but I tried it myself on a couple large text files. Sure enough, RAR did compress better than 7Zip (with maximum compression specified for each).
-
In my tests 7ZIP always comrpess better than RAR. You have to activate “solid” compression in 7Zip to get the best compression. But in anyway the comrpession of both archivtypes is on a very high level and definately better than ZIP.

7zip is definetly better when compressing applications/installations/program files… It gives 10%-20% better file size than RAR, but what is the most interesting thing is that it is an open format so it has an chance to become new standard for compressed files since everyone can use it and every application can support it.
Then again, PA 2004 isnt only about 7zip, many other improvements as well… From the basics to more specific options…
thanks,

Yes the new PA is very great! Congratulations!!
But I lack these: -iso support
-More Options in SFX Wizard
-German Language(I know in few days it comes out!!)But it is the best archiver (look at many tests)
-
simply the best archiver period

It will be more better! But you can always find improvements
