Powerarchiver is slow to open
-
Powerarchiver takes like 5 seconds to open when avast is enabled…
avast starts sf.bin whenever powerarchiver is run…think that has something to do with it.
When I disable avast, powerarchiver opens instantly.I dont think I had this problem with versions before 7.0.1451.
I have added POWERARC.EXE to avast file system shield exclusion list because of this windows 7 64 bit, intel i7 920, avast free 7.0.1451

Hi Johnmarson,
Thanks for the post! Can you confirm thta by adding “PowerArc.exe” to avast’s Exclusion it resolved the issue? or did the issue continue?
It might also note that Avast has updated their software to version 8, it might be worth Uninstalling the current version and downloading the latest to see if this also resolves the problem.

problem with AVs is that you cant ever disable them completely to test something… so to really test it, you need to uninstall it (you can install it later easily) and then test.
does the same slow up happen with shell extensions? For instance compress with options?

thanks for reporting - once we know if whitelist works, i will report it with Avast so they put PA into internal whitelist.

just tried this with Avast version 8.0.1483(latest from their site)
and PowerArchiver started fine, as it did prior to Avast installation.can you try updating to that latest version and see if it still happens?
It’s possible that the issue in your version was fixed in version 8.Let us know and thanks for reporting.
