PAOP - only compresses one file
-
PAOP 2.103
If I attach multiple files, PAOP compresses only the last inserted file. For instance, if attach three files, two are attached in their original format; the third is compressed according to PAOP settings; and the help file is attached.
-
what kind of files are they? (extensions?)
-
It might be a bit more specific - i tried 6 files, and 4 were compressed while 2 were not due to 10kb size limit.
-
My error.
I assumed the size limitation governed the total size of the set of files, not each file individually.
Perhaps you could add this as a feature.
If I have 20 files, all but one smaller than the PAOP minimal filesize, it would be nice if PAOP still compressed all as long as, taken together, they were larger than the minimal filesize.

We will have to rethink this a bit nyway.
Opinion needed:
1. Default value of 10kb limit. Is it needed? Even if file is small, send 1000 of them and savings are significant. Maybe leave this limit at 0kb in the future?
2. Do we even need two ways to count the limit? Counting all together should be sufficient (we will check if we can reasonably do it though).thanks.

I would propose count the size or all attachments; I don’t think you need a size limit for each individual attachment.
That’s what I thought PAOP did – and, thus, why I thought there was a glitch.
-
what about default limit for attachment size?
-
I really don’t think that matters. I have it set at 30K – but that is purely personal taste. (Space and speed aren’t really affected for a 10K file.)
However, I think setting it at 10 is fine, as long as users can change it.

Hiya,
This could be moved under PAOP V3 Wish List
