@spwolf Maybe AU files, if I remember correctly some are like 8 bit WAV files, probably some are like 16 bit WAV files.

@Brian-Gregory unfortunately, au is too different… doesnt do any magic there.

Next step for codecs is likely dedicated audio codec, we will likely use monkey audio in pa, did you ever try it?

@spwolf No, I’ve never tried Monkeys Audio, maybe I should. I mostly use FLAC for lossless audio compression.

it has stronger compression and slower decompression, more suitable for backup purposes.
