[Bug?] testing this .bz2 file takes forever
-
Using PA 16.00.70 on this:
http://ftp.9atom.org/other/9atom.nboot.iso.bz2
file I noticed no Test on the right click menu (probably deliberately I now realise) so I double clicked the file so it opened in PA and did Home / Tools / Test to test it. PA just sits there forever at 0% testing. -
thanks, let’s check it, downloading
-
The test feature is basically a test extraction of the archive to check if it extracts properly and provides a result.
It seems to be slow when extracting larger .bz2 files and the progress bar isn’t progressing simultaneously, but it is extracting.Logging it in to see what we can do, thanks
-
For me extracting the file only takes about 3 seconds. Though the progress bar does behave oddly, only reaching about 2% when it finishes. Testing doesn’t finish even if left for several minutes.
-
yep, i also get not responding and a crash when testing.
We’ll give it a look, thanks for the details! -
Is this on the list to be fixed?
Or for Test to be disabled for this case? -
once the team checks it out, we will update the thread. Thanks!

I don’t understand why it’s taking so long.
Tesing bz2 files was already “mostly” disabled in that test isn’t on the right click menu for bz2 files. Why not just fix it so you can’t test from inside PA either? Then maybe later on you can allow testing of bz2 files. The other possibility is that the developers haven’t been told the problem is when testing from inside PA and assume that because testing was always disabled from the right click menu the problem doesn’t exist.
