Networked drives/Windows 10
-
Hi,
I am a long time user of PA. I primarily use it to decompress audio files to my Windows Home Server based server. This worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 10 on my laptop, but it is now very slow and unreliable. It takes a long time to bring up the folder destination lists and whilst decompressing often hangs up and occasionally crashes all together.
I have tried remapping the destination drives but this doesn’t help.Anything else I can try?
Best wishes,
Richard

Hi Richard,
A few questions and sorry if they sound odd.
1st when you moved to Windows 10 was this an upgrade or a clean install? if it was an upgrade i would suggest if its possible to do a clean install or a ‘refresh’.
Often upgrades can cause performance issues with applications in general.

Try uninstalling Powerarchiver, Patchbeam and virtual driver from your system, delete the conexware program files locations and run something like CCLeaner (free) using the registry cleaner. Once you have done that download the latest version of PowerArchiver do a clean install (dont restore cloud or prior registry data) and manually set your Powerarchiver from scratch.Reboot your system and try it now.
If you cant do step one you can still do Step 2! If you can do step 1 then install Powerarchiver’s latest version but still dont recover the data from cloud.
You want to try and keep it as clean and fresh as possible. If this doesnt resolve your problem then we can move forward with a few more questions.

It seems your network is slower/unreliable after Windows 10 upgrade. This could happen for instance due to bad drivers. Check if you have latest drivers for your network adapter.
Also check network speed - for instance simply copy file in Windows Explorer between two computers, how fast does it go? Does it often stop?
