Hi all,

I wonder if this is only me or I am doing something wrong…

Since lately, I cannot add binary-files (exe and dll files, maybe others too) to a ZIP-archive using PowerArchiver. I’m using version 2015 but I have had this issues also with it’s predecessor PowerArchiver 2013. It doesn’t work via explorer’s context-menu nor does it work if I open an archive in PA and drag-and-drop such a file into an existing archive…

Using the Windows built-in functionality for creating ZIPs works flawlessly. Also using 7-ZIP I see no problems.

I’m running PA under a Windows 8.1.

Anybodey has any clue? Would be highly appreciated.

EDIT: is there any way to create a logfile or any debugging info??? At the moment, PA is completely useless to me… :(

I just created a zipx file of a single .exe from the shell. Went without a hitch.

What AV do you have? I wonder if it is some kind of interference.

It behaves like this via explorer’s shell extension, but also if using PAs normal UI…

No special one - I’m using the Windows 8.1 builtin Windows Defender.

OK - just thought that one of the users here perhaps had a similar problem…

So again: is there any way of creating some kind of debug-info (logfile, eventlog or something like this)?

Just attempted to create a new ZIPs with EXE’s and DLL’s inside, worked fine.
Also attempted to add EXE’s and DLL’s to existing ZIPs and that worked fine as well.

What exactly happens when you attempt the same? What kind of an error do you get?
You can send us your zipped reg settings(save settings to file below config button) to support at conexware dot com and we can try with your settings.

One more question - did you try using cab format or tar for instance and does the same thing happen?

Nothing happens - this is weird… I get a “pling” system-sound and the file(s) are not added to the archive. No error or message at all is shown…

thanks for sending over the settings. tried with them and still worked fine.
As I replied in the support ticket, if possible, send over the files you are using and we will try with those exact files to attempt to reproduce.
