Test of ZIP files saying corrupt files are okay or locking up
-
I’ve had trouble downloading a couple of large ZIP files today.
The file sizes of both turned out to be much smaller than they were supposed to be but when asked to Test them PowerArchiver 2013 14.05.06 said one was okay and just locked up on the other.I can’t really offer any more help reproducing this yet but perhaps I can do some experiments soon.

how large is large?

Roughly 950MB and 720MB.

i actually had problems downloading zips yesterday too, so i will check it out on mine :-).
Right now, Test does the headers check… it would be cool if we added check which actually extracts and checks files, although some would consider it pointless as it takes same time as extraction? However, it should be able to clean after itself nicely.

Other archiver programs I’ve used check all the CRCs etc. when you do test and that’s what I was expecting.
If it doesn’t actually test everything what is the point?
You’re not actually verifying that the file isn’t corrupt are you.
