Advice please

Hi,
I have PA 2011 Toolbox (well have just installed the latest beta of 2012).
I have thousands of photos on my hard disk, in the folder format: Year and the month folders under each year. I wish to backup these to many 8.5GB DVDs and was wondering what is the best way to do it. I would like to be able to filter out some files, *.RWS etc.
Have tried on the standalon burner but that doesn’t filter. I want to select folders one by one until I reach the 8.5GB and then burn them to DVD.
I tried doing it with spanning but it didn’t seem to work.
Has anyone done this or got any ideas on the best way please? Many thanks
Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Do you want to compress these first or burn them as is?
As our backup application offers filters and the ability to burn your backup to CD. -
Hi Mili,
Yes, I would like to backup using compression and filtering.
Ideally I would like to burn to 8.5GB DVD straight away as I don’t want to use up disk space and it would be faster, I think, but that way I can’t filter. Thanks

Hi Gerry,
Here is a way you can go about doing it.
1st notice is that there is no disc space notice in the Backup burner, so you will have to be sure to enter just a bit less than 8.5 gigs on your dual layer CD, to make sure everything will properly fit.First screenshot shows where you will need to check for PA Backup to burn your Backup to CD. I would enter the Disc in the computer right away and make sure it is properly detected in the section shown i first screenshot.
Second screenshot shows where the Filters are located. Once you navigate to the section shown in screenshot, click the Filters button and you’ll get the dialog shown. In the exclude only field, enter *.RWS and click add for the extension to be added to the exclusion list, as in screenshot.
Then proceed with the rest of the backup.Just to be sure, do a test run first to see if it will excluded everything properly, then you can use backup to back up your files and burn them to disc as described above.
