PA Backup Script fails to compress to Google Drive folder
-
I just downloaded google Drive desktop application. I have a script that runs every day at 1 PM and makes a backup of several files and stores the backup in my Dropbox folder. This has always worked just fine, so when I installed Google Drive I modified the script to backup to the google drive folder:
C:\Users<user>\Google Drive\
Now I checked the windows security settings for this folder and my user account has full control over this folder. There’s no reason that Power Archiver should require Admin privileges to move a file there.
Please help. Running latest version of Power Archiver (12.12.03)</user>

Can you zip file from PowerArchiver to Google drive?
Does PowerArchiver actually require admin privileges?Keep in mind that PowerArchiver treats it as any other folder on the hard drive, no matter what it is exactly. So it seems like Google didnt make it as compatible as Dropbox did for instance.

If I open PowerArchiver and create a new zip file in the Google Drive directory, that works.

what format are you using for backup? it seems Google doesnt like when it copies the files from temp to the “drive”.
then again, when did Google have a product that is not:
a. Class leading
b. Buggy:-)

Using 7zip optimized ultra compression
-
try using non-optimized and zip just to see if there is an difference… i cant test it right now, it doesnt allow drive for me as i have business account :-)

Okay testing this script out on a Windows 7 Professional 32bit machine works just fine with 7zip optimized Ultra compression, no errors. Might be a 64 bit issue.

in any case, it is google drive issue - we dont do anything special there. But you need to check non-optimized and zip compression to see if you can work around it.
