Power Archiver 2011 UAC on all files
-
Hello,
Having some trouble with PA 2011 where every single file I open in win7 is triggering UAC, for example, opening a file on the desktop. I have UAC elevation enabled, but I don’t think it should even matter in this case. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Update: This seems to be an issue like the previous poster where UAC prompts after starting the program in general. Running as administrator or compatibility mode in XP SP3 don’t have any effect. Have uninstalled/reinstalled a couple of times, no avail.

Hello,
Performed an uninstall and reinstall, same issue. One indication I get that there will be trouble is that the shortcut itself created on the desktop has the win7 UAC checkered shield icon overlay indicating it will need permission to run (shortcut to “C:\Program Files (x86)\PowerArchiver\POWERARC.EXE”).

disable administrator mode?

(right click on the icon, Compatibility, uncheck run as administrator)

Sheesh, don’t know why I hadn’t tried that. The UAC prompting is now gone (except as it should be e.g. in Program Files folder). I’m not a power user of PA, not sure if it is odd that the default shortcut comes up with admin or if this is useful to most users.
Thanks for the prompt responses and assistance. You have saved me from resorting to the land of open source and neckbeards.

If I had to guess, you had legitimate problem like that other user, which we solved with this release i sent.
But you probably tried everything you can before that and left start as administrator turned on, as it is not there by default.
in any case, glad it is solved… thanks for being our user.
