WinZip 14.5 copied PowerArchiver!!
-
Is it just me or does Winzip 14.5 look just like PowerArchiver?
-
It was just a matter of time before WinZip updated its antiquated interface & there’s no better archiver interface to copy than PowerArchiver’s.
They may have copied the interface, but they don’t have all PowerArchiver’s functionality.
-
they looked like they’ve adopted the latest Microsoft Office 2010 ribbon interface to me.

I think the ribbon interface will make some part of it look like PowerArchive, which it’s only normal, since both programs are used for compressing data and therefore some of the commands will have the same name.
Personaly I don’t think WinZip looks just like PA, if it did you could say that most programs that uses the ribbon interface looks like each other.
Kind Regards

there is also a considerable price difference…:)

ifs flattering ;-)… it also only works on vista sp2 and above, and is only option… Based on my experience, they will get a lot of hate mail now :)

That’ll mean lots of new customers buying Powerarchiver then. :)

Still haven’t forgiven them for “butchering” zip format :p -
The secret to Good Business is to always stay ahead of the game…

Actually I think you have misread…
For Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista users
This release delivers an entirely new user experience,Download page clearly states:
System Requirements:
Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7It’s only some of the user experience that XP users will not get.
Personally I think that if anyone is still using XP they should not be surprised if software developers stop supporting a very old OS as XP.

60% of our users use Windows XP or below, and we actually have much bigger rate of Win7 users than industry standard due to our support from day 1. Rest assured we will be supporting XP for long time :-).
My post referred to the ribbon ui in wz, which is apparently not available in XP or below… which is majority of customers out there.

Indeed your Windows 7 support was really good. And if I remember rightly, the support you had for Vista was fast in being provided.
Nice to hear that XP will be supported for a long time, that will please my dad!
On a personal level I don’t know that many people who use XP, most moved to Vista/W7 years/recently.
On a professional level dealing with IT Support, I usually recommend PowerArchiver when asked about zip utilities. :) -
